IIT Palakkad Review

After clearing JEE I appeared for JOSAA counselling and according to my academics and JEE rank I was given the seat in IIT Palakkad at first I was a little upset because the college is new and nothing much is known about the college but when I found that the college is mentored by IIT Madras I was really happy as IIT Madras is one of the best engineering colleges in India. The college has good faculty and good research opportunity.

The curriculum is similar to IIT Madras which means the curriculum is latest as per the latest international industrial guideline. The curriculum is a blend of practical and theoretical acknowledge and the faculty help us to understand the concepts. The faculty are not only of PhD standards but also provide full detailed information on every topic so that every concept is properly cleared to us. The faculty have good research experience from the top class universities of India. Few of the faculty also have industrial exposure which is very beneficial for us during the time of placement.

The internship is part of the curriculum and the internship is a very good opportunity for us to use our academic knowledge in the professional world and learn something new. We have to register our detail with the college placement committee during the third year so that we can take part in the internship program after completing the third year of our program. The average stipend for the internship program was around 45k.

The college is new but that does not mean that college placement is not good. The college placement is as per the IITs norms and standard means the placement quality of the colleges is very good. In the placement process, the placement committee plays a very important role as the placement programs are organised by the committee so the committee is responsible for inviting good company. The committee was able to invite good companies and they also helped us during the placement rounds so that we can receive good placement offers. The highest package for our batch was around 35 LPA and the average salary package was around 12 LPA.

The scholarship program of the college is similar to the rest of the IIT colleges of India. College provides scholarships on a merit basis and financial assistance to SC/ST is also available. Education loan facility is also available and the admission department fully cooperates during the education loan process. The college infrastructure is very well maintained. The classrooms are very big and also have a centralised cooling system. The college administrative staff is very cooperative and friendly. In a short period of time, the college has managed to have international collaboration for research activity. The college library is new and all types of books from one of the national and international bestseller is available.

The hostel is very good and very well maintained. The washing machines facility is available on every floor of the hostel. the bathrooms are very hygienic. The hostel also has a fitness room like Gym on the hostel campus and the dining hall is very spacious and bog. The mess food is very good and hygienic. 24 hours of water and electricity is available and hot water supply is also available. Each room has LAN connectivity and a WiFi facility is also available. The warden and staff of the hostel are very professional and work very hard to maintain the hostel decorum. The hostel has all kinds of basic and modern facilities for us.
