Remarks :
My admission was through Ojee Counseling in which I linked my Jee Main score. So, I easily got admission in CSE branch in 1,90,000 rank. PS: I was in OPEN-EX. Then after seat allotment, admission was too easy. All I had to do was to visit college within mentioned date with all the documents that were mentioned in their website. Then there was a line system in which you enroll one by one. It would've been a bit helpful, if the list of documents to be verified were mentioned in Ojee website or were mailed to you, because Silicon website has a bit different interface, thus could be a bit hassle to search for required notices.
Course Curriculum Overview :
My ambition is to be a programmer, thus Computer Science and Engineering is the best course available. The ratio of Faculty Advisor to Student is = 1:15. And ratio of student to teacher in 1st year is approx. = 1:60. Teachers are highly qualified, some of them even were a part of IITs, and thus they've high-quality teaching methods which are helpful for even those who didn't have pre-requisite knowledge for college level. Silicon is well reputed for its scrict exam time schedule and conduct. And the term exam is a bit leveled as it aims to improve the students and shape them to become ready to implement it in real world. But there's a downside i.e some faculties don't have proper teaching skills, so students have to struggle a bit, but most teachers are highly better than average.
Internships Opportunities :
Silicon has its own internship program which doesn't include any stipend but some companies do support that but the process is a bit hassling. The projects in Silicon aren't that difficult to complete but do have practical application so it is a bit considerable.
Placement Experience :
You are eligible for campus placement from semester 6, but you should only apply if you think you are ready and present in your best condition. There are companies like TCS, Infosys, Accenture which is frequent and a mass hirer. The highest package recieved is Rs 40 LPA which was from Amazon and average is between Rs 4-5 LPA. The minimum CGPA to apply for campus interview is 7.5, but nowadays interviewers focus mainly on the skills you have rather than your CGPA. Silicon has an record success of campus placement of nearly 94%. My general target is to be a researcher in a programming-based part of a reputed company.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees for genral category non-hostelites is approx. Rs 1.50 lakhs. And but for hostelites it varies in range Rs 1.80-2.20 lakhs. There are many scholarships which you can avail like TFW scheme, PMSS scheme etc. For average student the package ranges from Rs 4-5 LPA. But the highest mentioned by Silicon is Rs 40 LPA in amazon but it was for only one student. There were similar package but not high as this. There are companies like Accenture, TCS, Infosys that regularly give placements to Silicon students.
Campus Life :
There are many Cultural fests and Tech fests in the campus and they are conducted in frequent intervals of time. There are more than 30k books and 10k magazines in the library which allows over-night issue, fortnight issue free of cost and Rs 50 per book for each semester. Classroom includes multiple facilities including projectors and computers connected via LAN. And they're well ventilated. Campus has sports including Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton. And for extra curricular activities they've clubs that includes music, dance, photography, videography, typing, environment protection, blood donation, women rights and etc. And all the groups are run by students co-ordinated with faculty.
