Remarks :
I also applied to IIT Dhanbad EE but I didn't pick it as I heard that Jodhpur has better faculty for the EE department and also better infrastructre overall. I did not have any sort of reservation and I think that the minimum rank required for EE is 5800 and overall for the less preferred branches like metallurgy or civil, the closing rank is around 13000. I went through JoSaa counseling as usual but I did not get to see my campus as there was a pandemic, nut through word of mouth I heard many positive reviews about IIT Jodhpur and I decided to pick it.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I have always been interested in core electrical and hence I chose this course. My course is very well balanced between core electrical and software-oriented courses. We have Data Structures and Ml which enables us to be more up to date with the latest industry trends. We also have many core courses like Intro to EE, Engineering electromagnetism, digital design, and circuit theory, etc. This allows us to apply for computer-oriented jobs in the software industry. We have 30 faculty in the electrical department and we have around 80 students in first year and about 350 student in all 4 years, M.Tech and Ph.D . The teachers are obviously highly qualified and accredited. They have numerous publications and most of them are highly cited and knowledged. They teach very well and give access to resources in order to facilitate additional learning. They ensure that the assignments and quizzess are not very difficult. Our endsems are also relatively easy to write.
Internships Opportunities :
We get many interns for our college with a good stipend. We get Medianet, Accenture, Amazon, Microsoft for internship and they offer very good stipends. Many students also get interns in foreign universities for research projects.
Placement Experience :
Our campus placements are very good. Our avg package for the CSE department is 23 LPA and 100 percent placement. The statistics for this year haven't been released yet for the other departments. We have 85 percent for both EE and Mech for last year with 16 lpa and 14 lpa for the last year. The rest of the stats can be found on the FAQ's on the student well-being website. I plan to pursue a Ph.D after graduating.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees has been constant for the last few years and I think will remain so for the nexr 2-3 years. Merit Cum Means scholarship is offered to many deserving students and the Institution will reduce fees substanially if the student is unable to pay fees. We get internships in 3rd year and usually students get a paid very well with some of them getting 7-8 lakhs in an intern abroad.
Campus Life :
We have 2 main fests which were called "Ignus" and "Varchas" which are the tech-club-socio and sports fests respectively. We also have smaller fest like Spandan, Unplugged etc. They are conducted very well and are the largest fests in all of west India. We have a large study room and a huge selection of various books in order to widen your horizon. It has a lot of publications and textbooks. Our classrooms are very modern and have projectors, drawing tablets and microphones and are very well lit and ventilated. We have a lot of sports grounds and facilities. Our college recently inaugurated a sports complex for badminton, squash, gym and various other indoor sports. We have a basketball court, tennis court, volley ball, football ground, cricket ground, shuttle courts. We have a gym inside every hostel and a badminton court too. We have many societies like enterpreneur society, literature society, astronomy society, quiz society and many technical society like AI, robotics, programming.
Hostel Facilities :
Our hostels are the best in any IIT. We are provided with a single bed, AC, a desk and a wardrobe. Our hostels are maintained by OYO and we can get our room cleaned very well at any time. We can give our clothes to the laundry service. We have a shop that provides all the general items that we need. Our mess is very well maintained and the food we get is very hygienic and well-balanced. We get rice and roti for lunch and dinner along with 2 different types of curries and dal. For breakfast and snacks we get different items daily and we get south indian dishes for 3 times a week. Our annual hostel fees is 8000.
