- Firstly, it was the peer group. Bits Pilani has a wonderful peer group which helps during the college and also after college. The Bits alumni network is unmatched and the quality it brings is outstanding.
- The clubs at Bits pilani is also a remarkable thing, the clubs here at bits teach you a lot whether it be coding or finance or cybersecurity, everything is to notch.
Dislikes
- I disliked the fact that there is 0 percent attendance. There should be a bare minimum percentage of attendance like 20-30 percent so students actively participate in classes.
- The fees is hiking every year which is not a good thing, yeah it's a private college but making the fees higher can affect the quality of students coming to bits. Some deserving candidates might miss it coz of financial status.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum was well maintained with proper handouts before the semester. Also we got the exam dates beforehand so we can plan our semester accordingly. The curriculum was flexible which allowed us to balance it according to our needs. The tests and evaluatives were evenly spaced and we had enough time to prepare for it. The areas of improvement include a unique style of teaching, reduction in scaling of marks and also absolute grading in courses with low strength
Internships Opportunities :
There are huge number of internship opportunities available in bits. You get two mandatory internships ps1 and ps2 so it looks good in resume. Companies like jp morgan, mercedes, amazon, samsung, uber etc come for internships. Also you've summer internships where facebook, google, Microsoft etc visits our campus. My project in internship was related to automobile sector and related to post processing of automobile equipments in vehicle dynamics. Stipend is also decent ranging between 50k to 1 lakh per month for 6 months or 2 months depending upon the company.
Placement Experience :
Students become eligible for placements starting from the 4th year. You get an option to opt a semester for internship in 4th year and the other semester becomes your placement semester. Good known companies visit our campus and we proudly present a good placement rate every year including the recession time. My plan is to work in an IT firm after my college degree. 90-95 percent students get placed by the end of cycle, rest go for masters.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee is 6 lakhs per year and it increases by 1.5 percent or so every year. The complete cost of education is roughly 30 lakhs and might increase in the upcoming years. There are two provisions for scholarship namely MCN and MERIT CUM NEED SCHOLARSHIP. we get two internships namely ps1 and ps2. Ps1 is unpaid while ps2 is unpaid. I got 50k for 6 months while my 6 months internship.
Campus Life :
My campus life was amazing. We have a huge campus and a good diverse climate. Yeah there are some issues during summers of water and electricity but that's balanced by the least distractions one gets living in an isolated and peaceful place like pilani. We have acs installed in classes and also the facility of mic, digital clock and smart board. Sports are also of utmost importance at bits with proper sports facilities for every sport available like cricket basketball badminton etc. There are a lot of clubs in bits, and it's one of the reason why bits is famous. We've student governed bodies like student union for fests and any vote of students to the admin.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facility is also decent. We've 2 floors and spacious rooms. We've mess near every hostel and also a eaterie for every hostel. The water supply is decent and also the electricity supply. Food is also fine, some days it sucks but rest of the days it's edible. There isn't any specific registration process for hostel, we have an option to live with our friends by making wings
Admission :
I got 310 marks in Bits and was eligible for mechanical branch. I got admission in the 6th iteration. The cut off for cse was 373 and eni was 330 somethit. There wasn't any reservation benefits in bits and everything was merit based. The exams were pretty tough given the time allotted but in level it was easier than JEE. The area where bitsat can improve is reducing some questions and making it a little tougher
Faculty :
The faculty members at bits are highly experienced. Most of them are ph.d holders in their respective background and there way of teaching is also unorthodox. The faculty at Bits are superb and also pretty chill at the same time. A student can approach his teachers during chamber consultation hours and get their doubts cleared.
Other Applied Colleges
IIT Patna - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITP] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Chemical Engineering)
I wasn't getting desired branch
