Vicky Mirchandani's Review On Thadomal Shahani Engineering College - [TSEC], Mumbai

Entrance Preview :

I appeared for 3yrs year diploma exams and scored 80% marks in the exams. I opted for this college because it was one of the top ranked colleges of Mumbai.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum was quite balanced with theory and practical s for each subject. In the final year we had a project and also an elective subject. I had opted for Wireless networks as optional subject. We had to complete the final year project and create detailed documentation of the project.

Placement Experience :

Placements in our college were excellent. We had companies like Delloid, Amdocs, Accenture, TCS, Infosys, Capgemini, Sony Ericsson etc coming for Campus Placements. Each company first gave a presentation of placement process and then there interview rounds. In MNC's like Accenture for which I was selected there were a total of 102 students placed and they offered a package of 3 lakh per annum.

College Events :

There were societies like IEEE, ISTE,ISTE,MS,TGF etc in the college. We had a main annual function and apart from that each society had their own events for 2-3 days. There were workshops and various competitions organised by the societies as well. I was a member of ISTE, IETE and MS society.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure was feasible as compared to the other colleges. For the second year I paid 55000 and for the next two years I paid 59000 each. The other colleges had donations as well as very high fee structure as compared to our college. My friends who were in other colleges paid around 70000 to 1lakh as fees.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Yes, There were scholarships for students who secured more than 70%and also who secured 60%.

Campus Life :

There no such stipulated gender ratio. In our class of 60 there were 8 girls and the remaining were boys. There were extracurricular activities like white paper, technical paper presentations, Robotics workshop etc. In sports our college had its own Cricket team, Volleyball team, Football team, carrom and Basketball team.

Exam Structure :

We had adequate time to prepare for each of the subjects. On an average at least 3-4 days between each subject for theory. For practical examinations we had 1-2 days gap for each exam. Apart from that the college provided us with 1 month of preparately leave to study for the exams.

Admission :

We had to fill a separate form for each college and also a Cap round form. I got selected for this college in the first round itself. Then we had to fill a separate admission form for the college you are selected in and pay the fees which I did. Since I was a diploma holder, I was directly admitted to second year. The admission process was smooth and there were no hiccups.

Faculty :

The faculty were excellent. They were expert in their own subject. They finished the theory classes approximately 1 month prior to the university exams so that the students may have the time to thoroughly go through the subjects and clear their doubts. The theory classes were based on imparting conceptual knowledge to the students.

Talking about placements, most of the placements occurs in CSE and IT branch, but surprisingly in the Government College of Engineering Aurangabad, the Mechanical branch has the same placements comparatively just the fact is that the package is less.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As every Diploma passing student enters to degree college same process I went through. The faculty of the college are well educated and hardworking. As a student, you have to reach out to your faculty and maintain a good relation with them to get constant support from them. the ratio is 25:1. The teaching method of professors is very professional. Exams are as per the government regulations and the difficulty level is moderate for general students.

Placement Experience:

Students are encouraged to take internships from the moment they are confident and can handle responsibility. They are eligible for placements after semester 4. Approximately 60+ companies visit the campus every year and they take an average of 4-5 offers. For instance, the highest package can be 40+lpa from Microsoft. 90-100% placements happen every year. My plan after getting the degree is to acquire a placement and work with the organization.

Remarks:

The college Bajaj Institute of Technology, Wardha is very reputed college as it is Shiksha Mandal's college. I saw many advertisement about this college throughout the year and that's why choose to take admission in it.

Placement Experience:

Till now no company has visited. 2 students are selected and that is with their own efforts. Not having any job referral because hardly few students are placed. In startup one group won the hackathon and I guess they are doing their startup thing

Remarks:

Positive are all mentioned throughout the form Also to mention they really keep the college clean and many trees around the institute which gives nice vibes. Negative can be attendance issue which is actually not enforced by institute but by Mumbai University to which we are affiliated
