Remarks :

Reputation of the institution, the 2000 acre campus and state of the art research facility along with a set of highly qualified faculty. The admission process was through GATE score and interview. The dates were around May 2017. The college is located in the outskirts of Kharagpur so city life in not much otherwise it is a great institute.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Joint Mtech PhD is a renowned and unique course offered by IIT Kharagpur. The students with CGPA greater than 8 are given the oppurtunity to switch to PhD after their first semester of M.Tech. If they are interested in placement they are free to appear for that as well. The faculty of IIT Kgp atleast hold a PhD degree and have in depth knowledge of their field. The teaching method differs from faculty to faculty. Most use a presentation and a black board method.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes. I had interned with IBM ISDL Pune during my Masters. The task was to implement cross border data flow governance in storage cloud. The stipent was 48K per month. I had also interened with WMG, University of Warwick, UK for autonomous driving research. The stipend was 1800 pounds for 2 months.

Placement Experience :

The placements are very good for computer science branch both for B.Tech and M.Tech. For a PhD degree one generally seeks job oppurtunities of campus or goes for a post doc degree. For CSE tech giants like apple, flipkart, microsoft, IBM etc. visit. Highest average package ranges in Crores.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure of post graduate courses are quite affordable in IIT Kgp. A monthly stipend of 12500 is provided to the M.Tech students and 31000 is provided to the PhD students. Apart from that one can also apply for scholarships present in their field like Qualcomm innovation fellowship or TCS research scholarship.

Campus Life :

Spring fest which is a cultural festival is conducted in the month of January, Kshitij which is a technical festival is conducted in the month of December. We have Asias biggest library on campus with a range of technical books. The classrooms are air conditioned with wifi enable. The campus has two playground, one swimming pool, one lawn tennis court, a gymnasium and every other sports fecility possible. Apart from the halls of residence have their own sport fecilities. One can join a set of student club as well.

Admission :

Yes there interview for admission to M.Tech program in ECS branch. For PhD admission as well one has to appear for a written test. The question sre mostly focussed on programming, data structure and discrete mathametic and are moderately difficult.
