Remarks :
Overall the College is a good college. But there are too many levels of hierarchy. We never really know who is the main head of the institution because there are so many people like Principal, Chairman, Director, Coordinator etc. The university the college is affiliated under is not good. Anna University is keen on looting student's money.
Entrance Preview :
COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET), I took 65/100. I got a positive review from a friend of mine who studied Engineering in the college. Moreover, the newspaper advertisements were attractive. When I visited the College, I found the infrastructure to be good.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes, Providing Internships are a part of our curriculum. There are many companies that offer internships for students. Naukri, Shiksha, Asta AVM, HR Sangam are some of the places students go for internship for 3-4 months. Since students do not work daily (as they have regular college), they go on thursdays, fridays and saturdays mostly. Stipends are not given.
College Events :
Every year the alumni meet is conducted. Apart from that various events are conducted. Many inter college competitions take place, and students from various other colleges come and perform. MBA Department conducted the Idea E-day in which students sold environment friendly items and made money in the college.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee for a MBA student is Rs.1,20,000 for two years. It can be paid as Rs.30,000 every semester. This is much feasible when compared to other institutions offering MBA. But there are many hidden costs. The semester examination fee levied by Anna University is too high. They charge Rs.450 per subject. On average there are about 8-10 subjects every semester. But there is no value for that money.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I have not availed any of the scholarship facility as BC candidates are not eligible. But SC and other lower communities are offered scholarships where a part of their fee is refunded by the government.
Campus Life :
Th gender ratio is 2:1 in the whole college. But in MBA department it is almost 1:2 boys-girls ratio. The campus life is okay. Pretty enjoyable. I've never seen any sort of ragging issues in the campus. Many club activities are conducted in our Department like Best Manager competition, stock wars etc.. Finance Club, HR Club, Operations Club, Marketing Club and Systems Club conduct various activities during a semester period.
Alumni/Alumna :
Alumni meet is conducted every year. Our seniors have also had the various facilities (barring a few) like the present batch. They share their experience about how the did their summer project, final project and how they got placed in campus recruitment and so on.
Exam Structure :
The college is affiliated under Anna University. So they have no power over the semester examinations. But for every semester Unit Test 1, Unit Test 2 and Model Exams are conducted. Practicals alongside if necessary. All these are fine. But the semester exams are hectic. The time table set by Anna University, either so much gap between 2 exams or no gap between 2 tough subjects. It is tough to patch up.
Admission :
I got admitted in the college as a Management student. Did now write any entrance examination to be eligible for MBA. But that was not a problem as I wrote CET after admission. After completing B.Com I wanted to do M.B.A. So I was in search of colleges. Visited JAYA College first and got the application form. Then went to S.A. Engineering College to get the application form.
Faculty :
The faculty are really experienced. But they tailor to the students need. Many students don't have proficiency in English. So they teach in Tamil for better understanding. In my opinion, I feel that teaching in tamil is fine, but to a certain extent. But English must be the primary language used, not Tamil. The faculty are dedicated and care about the students. Each faculty are allocated 10-15 students under them.
