Entrance Preview :
I opted for Diploma course after SSC in WCE. I studied in Industrial Electronics Branch. During these 3 years of Diploma I fell in love with my college and decided to score highest number of marks, so that I can again get into WCE for Bachelor course. I stood second in our class and got Direct Second Year admission for Electronics Engineering course.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Currently WCE is an autonomous institute. It was under Shivaji University control when I passed out in 2009. Courses were repetitive when under University and changing now after autonomous. As far as WCE is concerned, internal vivas and external vivas were tough enough to challenge your brain.
Internships Opportunities :
In our time, i.e. around 2008-09, there was very rare chance of core companies coming for campus placements. So internship was a far question. However in recent years many Electronics core companies like TI, LSI (now Seagate), einfochips have been approaching our college to get interns.
Placement Experience :
Our college is ranked among top 3 colleges in Maharashtra for 100% campus placements. Also core industry job opportunities are also increased now. The number of core companies visiting our college has increased considerably. College also gives Lectureship opportunities to our college passed out M. Tech. students.
College Events :
Every department in our college holds a committee which organises department level technical events. They conduct different workshops, mini project exhibition, paper presentation competition etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee structure is feasible. Many students opt for category or economical scholarships provided by Gov. of India. Also college has tie up with few nationalised Banks which provide you an educational loan. So when there is a way, fee structure doesn't matter if you want to learn in a college like WCE.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I did not get any scholarship for my course. However I did get different endowment prizes for securing highest number of marks in few subjects.
Campus Life :
Along with 6 years of study (3+3, diploma & BE), I did lectureship for one year in WCE. This was because my company joining was delayed. So overall I spent 7 years of my life in WCE and it was integral part of my development as a person professionally and personally. There was no discrimination for students from different states.
Alumni/Alumna :
Yes, They are helpful. Every year college Alumni arranges WCE Alumni meet where we get to know many of our fellow & senior friends.
Exam Structure :
In our days there used to be on mid semester exam conducted by each department for the completed topics. And then University Semester exam which was the deciding exam for us. There was also an internal vivas & practical exam before external viva and practical exam.
Admission :
As I specified, I got into WCE for Diploma in Industrial Electronics through MSBTE standard admission process. For direct second year, I got admission through CAP round. CAP is a Centralised Admission Process for Maharashtra state conducted by DTE, Maharashtra.
Faculty :
For my course, i.e. Electronics Engineering, we had very good set of professors to teach us various subjects. Faculty expertise was good enough to help us learn more practicals than theory. We even used to get daily access for our labs even after College hours.
