Remarks :
The reason for choosing IIT-M is obviously its top position among the prestigious IITs of our country.The institute has various national-international accreditations and stands 1st for BTech program in 2020 rankings of NIRF. To get admission at IIT Madras is not easy because the allocation of seats is totally based on JEE score of applicants in the JOSAA counselling
Course Curriculum Overview :
IIT Madras has an industry immersive structure of BTech and students get to prepare themselves as per the latest Industrial needs through the program here. A total of 17 departments are there at IITM and it give the students a lot of variety to choose from. Being a mechanical field lover I went for mechanical engineering and got the best experience of education.
Internships Opportunities :
The internship round gave me to know deeper about the actual work of machinery in industrial aspects. I really got a great experience in my internship and that exposure to Industrial work also helped me during placements.
Placement Experience :
IIT Madras is the best technical institute in India and its placement records are a witness of the great glory of this institute. During the 2020 round of placements, over 75% BTech students got placed with handsome packages and the overall highest package was INR 90 LPA. Top firms present during the placements were Tata, HCL and Microsoft and the average package stood at INR 24.55 LPA.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Students of IIT Madras must pay a total fee of INR 2.84 lacs, which is equally distributed among the 8-semesters of the 4 year BTech. Students of SC/ST category were given concessions in the fee as their total fee was INR 17,150 only.Except them, students of EWS section can also get aids for financial help under specific eligibility criterias .
Campus Life :
IIT Madras is one of the largest IITs and its campus is filled with a lot of greenery. The events Shaastra,Exebit,Icon along with the cultural & sports activities were arguably the best thing about the institute and I really enjoyed the seminars, events and workshops organised for us. All different events at IITM were arranged by the respective societies and the most famous names among them were the alumni association cell and placement committee
Hostel Facilities :
As far as my personal views are concerned, the hostel experience at IIT-M was way beyond my expectations. I never thought that my comfort of being a hostlier will make me miss that life but eventually it was the thing which happened. The facilities available there made it even better for the students and the annual hostel fee was worth INR 45 k.
Admission :
JOSAA counselling is the most important step to get admissions here as admissions for all IITs/NIT'S are based on the same. The application must have a valid JEE Main-Advance score as seats allocation are based on the entrance score and choices filled by applied candidates
