Remarks :
College is excellent and all the facility are of very quality and i would definitely recommend the college to my friends.
Entrance Preview :
I prepared for GATE and scored 99.70%ile and opted for VLSI design because I knew about the placement especially for VLSI courses are very good.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Since our course curriculum were more towards the industry standard and keep on changing on need basis from year to year, it was quite helpful during the placement.Half of the class got placed even before Nov-Dec , at the time when IIT starts it's placement.
Internships Opportunities :
Our college doesn't provide internship as such but M.Tech student can work work upon govt project which are undertaken by faculty or by department. General stipend is 8K per month.
Placement Experience :
Strongest point about NIT Trichy VLSI department is job opportunity. There are plenty of companies that visits and are interested to take VLSI student s even in core computer science fields. Avg package for VLSI was 10L in the year 2013. Even few of the student could secure jobs (in computer science) which are way above than this figure.
College Events :
There were quite a few cultural as well as technical events. Pragyan, Techfest to name a few. Even all the hostels used to celebrate Ganesh pooja, saraswati pooja, Christmas, Diwali etc. College also provide huge support to the student to take part in these fests. So many celebrity also had visited in few of these fests.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
For M.Tech students it was 36K per semester and it's including all the things such as tution fees, hostel fees, mess fees. We used to get 8K per month so 48K per semester. That means even after paying the fees, we could save some money, so it was very nominal fees.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
No, since we were getting stipend it was good enough for us to pursue our course. However there were few banks which defiantly would have some sort of the loan facility offered for this premier institute.
Campus Life :
Campus life is one of the best among all the institute i have heard and definitely far far better than the institutes i have graduated from (B.Tech). Gender ratio was 70% boys 30% girls approx. There are lots of extracurricular activity like swimming, dance, gym , various sports and you were free to choose any of these without any extra cost.
Hostel Facilities :
At the starting food and hostel were pathetic but then our new director from ISRO , joined the college and took over the charge for the change and it is hard to believe within 1 , 1.5 years he could able to turn around the things. Now all the hostels were provided WIFI and FOOD quality also become better. Weekly 3 times they used to provide non-veg items on extra cost (25 rs plate for chicken.fish).
Alumni/Alumna :
Our senior were quite helpful and they used to guide us time to time for the preparation, campus placement etc.
Exam Structure :
We used to have 2 internal exams per semester and 1 final exams. All the exams result were having equal importance and were considered in the final mark sheet. Exams were mostly focused upon the things teacher teaches in the classroom. Concentrating when you are in the class was good enough to secure good marks in the semester.
Admission :
Admission process was one day long but the teachers and volunteers were quite helpful. In spite of language issue I didn't face any difficulty to go through the process. Even SBI bank staff , present inside college were helpful in nature. Overall good experience.
Faculty :
Overall avg faculty like all the other institutes. Few faculty members were quite strict and were more disciplined than the others. They expect the same behavior from the students as well. In terms of knowledge sharing , most faculty members were helpful and would devote time to make you understand if some thing is very ambiguous.
