Remarks :

The requirements and eligibility for pursuing the MBA program at Assam Institute of Management are available on its official website, aimguwahati.edu.in. First, there will be a group discussion ( generally a group of 10 students). They usually give simple topics for discussion on which everyone can talk. They try to check your communication skills, body language, and what relevant new points you can bring in. Those who get through the group discussion will be shortlisted for a personal interview. In the PI round, you will be asked to introduce yourself, things related to your academic background, why you want to do an MBA kind of questions. Your confidence level and willingness to achieve something in life are key points that are checked. Those students who can have leadership qualities and are associated with extra-curricular/ cultural activities will get preferences. The final list of shortlisted students is prepared considering prior academic performance, group discussion, and personal interview.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Assam Institute of Management follows a trimester-based curriculum, i.e exams after every 3 months. In total there are 6-trimester exams. The faculties are well experienced and very much approachable at any time. They never disappoint the students. All the faculties are Ph.D. holders. Exams are held on time under the Assam Science and Technology University. Results are also declared as soon as possible. Those students who regularly attend classes can easily clear the exams as all the important topics of the syllabus are covered in the class.

Internships Opportunities :

A two months summer internship is mandatory for every student. Students are assisted by college faculties in finding summer internship opportunities. Some of the companies that offer summer internship roles to AIM students are ICICI Bank, Asian Paints, Marico, HDFC AMC, etc. Some companies even give pre-placement offers to students whom they find suitable. Every student is assigned a faculty guide to assist in successfully completing the summer internship program. Due to the Covid pandemic, online internships are being offered to students.

Placement Experience :

Students are eligible to sit in placement from the beginning of 2nd year. Some of the regularly visiting companies for campus placement are ICICI Bank, ICICI Securities, SBI Life, Kotak Mahindra, Asian Paints, etc. The highest package offered is above 6 lakhs per annum. The average package offered ranges from 3.5 lakhs to 4 lakhs. Usually, most of the students are placed by the end of the course. But due to the Covid pandemic campus placement has been affected to some extent. 90% of the campus placement happens in the banking and insurance sectors.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

For the academic session 2019-21 the program fee is Rs 4 lakhs. Books are provided by the college. Industrial visits, excursions, etc expenses have to be borne by the students above the fees. The college faculties help the students in finding summer internships. Placement assistance is provided by the college. Campus placement starts from the beginning of the 2nd year and continues till all the students are placed or complete of course. 90% of the placements are in the banking and insurance sector. Some of the regularly visiting companies for campus placement are ICICI Bank, ICICI Securities, SBI Life, Kotak Mahindra, Asian Paints. North East Small Finance Bank etc.

Campus Life :

Classrooms are equipped with Air Conditioner, Projector, Wifi. Carrom and Table Tennis is available in the common room. Freshers for newcomers and farewells for outgoing students are organized every year. My batch (2019-21) took a new initiative and organized a 30 km cyclothon event and the theme was " Mental wellness of the students". It was a grand success. Volunteers from outside the college also participated in the event. There were renowned sponsors who sponsored the event.

Some of the companies that I remember right now are PWC, KPMG, axis bank, ujjivan bank, Vodafone idea, pantaloons, Bajaj Allianz, Tata AIG, Flipkart, etc. The highest package was of PWC. The average package of the placements were around 350000 -400000 per annum. More 70% of the students were placed and some of the students didn't want jobs as they were interested in further studies.
