MY EXPERIENCES AT DAULATRAM COLLEGE

The admission process for the 2020-23 batch was purely online. We didn't have to visit the college even once. All the documents were submitted online. The admission was based upon merit, the last cutoff for my course was around 96-97%(12th class %age), but since I was under ECA(vocal music -indian classical and light), I got some relaxation. Calculation of merit for most of the courses is based upon the calculation of best of four subjects, in which the main subject is included eg. for psychology Hons. my 12th class psychology percentage was included along with 3 other subjects with the highest marks; for those who didn't have psychology in 12th class, 2-3 percent were deducted.

Can't say much about GE subject professors, but our core subjects' professors are really great, very dedicated, and concerned about the students. Along with the lectures, we are given tests and assignments on regular periods. Classes are usually interactive. Unfortunately, due to the online mode of teaching, we couldn't explore much till now, but overall having a great experience.

About the internships, we get a number of opportunities, many companies offer around 15k per month, depending upon the efficiency of work done. Others offer letters of recommendation, certificates, experience, etc etc; don't really offer money for the work done. Internships are of many kinds eg. Social media marketing, content writing, etc.

The placement cell of our college offers great internship and placement opportunities. Psychology students usually go for masters after bachelor, instead of going for placements. I don't have much info about the companies visited until now since I am in the first year only, but I've heard from seniors that companies and institutions do visit the college, but not many get selected and get that great packages. I would rate for the placements to be of average level.

For the fee, we have to pay around 18k per year(for two semesters together), in which the examination fee is also included, so we don't have to pay anything else for the whole year. There are many scholarship opportunities for students with low economic backgrounds. I didn't come across any merit-based scholarships till now, but I guess there should be some. Overall it's affordable and worth it. It's a govt. College, so the fees aren't too much. Also, this year for students who lost there parent/parents due to the pandemic, the college provided financial aid by returning their fees.

There are a number of societies in the college eg. IMAGISM, ENCORE, ALAHYAA, SpicMacay, etc. After rounds of auditions, we get to be a part of these societies. These societies organism a number of events, annual fests are a must, in which students from different colleges participate. The college isn't just about curriculum, plenty of extracurricular activities are there to participate in. Apart from the societies, departments also organize certain events for awareness regarding different aspects. Again, due to the online mode of teaching, we couldn't explore much yet.
