Remarks :

JBIMS is known as the CEO factory of the country and it is one of the best finance colleges in India. The batch size is small, faculty is top-notch and placements are never an issue. It is a very academically focused college, unlike IIMs which maintain a balance of studies and extracurricular activities which could be a small concern for some aspirants. The admission process is to pass the CET/CMAT/CAT exam by clearing the required cutoff which is 99.94,99.98 and 99.99%tile respectively. CET is usually in the month of March (15th March), CMAT 2 times a year during summer and winter, CAT, as usual, is held in November although the dates may vary due to the pandemic. The USP of JBIMS is the ROI factor, location, and a strong alumni network. The college has established its reputation as one the best in the country. https://cetking.com/cet/

Course Curriculum Overview :

Semester pattern is followed at JBIMS with the first year i.e. first 2 semesters being the same for everyone so that all the students know the basics of MBA and Management studies as the degree being awarded is MMS. During the second year, a student gets to choose the specialization that he/she wants to opt for which can be any one of finance, marketing, operations, and systems. Each semester consists of around 7-8 subjects, a total of 8 seminars, a final year research paper, and many workshops over the course of study. The curriculum is grinding but is easy to pass. The faculty mostly teaches through PPTs, case studies, special assignments, and group projects. It is compulsory to have a 2-month internship during the summers for sitting in the final placements.

Internships Opportunities :

During the summer placement season, most of the bath gets placed in the placement week in established brands such as Accenture Strategy, PwC, NIUM, JP Morgan, HSBC, etc with a stipend of around 1-1.5 Lakhs per month. The remaining students also get placed in the forthcoming weeks but the stipend can be a bit low, although they have an option to opt for off-campus internships. Various roles are offered at campus ranging from IB, Banking, Associate Manager, Credit Analyst, Marketing Manager, Content Management, Digital Marketing, Supply Chain Intern, etc. to mention a few. Almost everyone gets a paid summer internship without much hassle.

Placement Experience :

Due to its small batch size and industry presence, everyone gets placed in the college. During the placement week, more than half of the batch gets placed in good brands with a high CTC. As JBIMS is known for finance, almost 40% of the batch gets placed in the financial domain with the likes of companies such as Bajaj Finserv, Citibank, HSBC, JPM, JPM&C, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra, etc. followed by marketing and operations in companies such as HUL, Nestle, Abbott, MetLife, Reliance Industries, P&G, Colgate, Xiaomi, Airtel, etc. The highest package was 34.36 LPA while the average CTC and mean CTC was 22.84 LPA and 22.00 LPA respectively for the MMS Batch of 2018-2020.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Coming to fees it is 6 Lakhs for 2 years, if hostel and mess charges are included then the fee would touch around 8 lakhs. Despite the fee is low as compared to other top B-Schools, students have options to apply for loans and scholarships. Students have the facility to avail of loans at the time of admission as various banks are ready with the loan scheme, just proper documents are required. Most of the students apply for the MahaDBT Scholarship which gives benefits to category and economically weaker students. Additionally, there is an option to opt for TFWS or EWS seats while filling the cap form in which the fee requirement is comparatively less and is taken care of by the CAP Management. The fee hike per year is approximately 10-20%.

Campus Life :

Unlike other colleges which have a huge campus and recreational areas, JIBMS is one single red building campus and the hostel is an old government one. But this doesn't bring the student campus to a halt as a non-Mumbaikar has the option to travel the city. The classrooms are big, clean and air-conditioned, the library is big with lots of books and easy facility to borrow them for some weeks. There are a total of 10 committees to be a part of which take care of all the happenings and management of the college done by the students. Some worth mentioning committees are the Alumni Committee, E-Cell, SAC, CSR, and CRR. There are also three clubs namely finance, marketing, and operations club to be enrolled in which are great for learning and industry exposure.

Interview Experience :

There is no interview conducted for the MMS Program. The admissions are simply done on the basis of the merit score of any one of the exams. A majority of students take admission through CET and around 10-20% of them through CMAT score. As there is not any interview stage for the admissions, it is a good option for a fresher or unprepared aspirant.

You will be getting packages of above 6 LPA easily if you get into this college. In my time, the stated average is 14.5 LPA. But the actual average will be around 13 LPA. It's the best option if you don't want to spend too much money to do your MBA or want to start and MBA and do something else on the side, like cracking a better college, cracking government jobs, entrepreneurship, etc.

The placements at JBIMS are great and they can be compared with IIM BLACKI / FMS / XLRI / IIFT / MDI. Due to the small batch size JBIMS is able to place 100% of its batch during the placement week. The sector-wise offers are 38% BFSI & IB, 21% Consulting, 19% Technology & E-Commerce, 9% FMCG & Pharma, 7% Conglomerates & Mfg, and 6% others. JBIMS attracts various big firms such as McKinsey, PwC, IBM, HUL, Nestle, P&G, Tata Steel, Reliance, Amazon, JPMC, etc to name a few. The Highest package was 34.36 lakhs and the average package stood at 22.84 lakhs for the MMS Batch of 2020. The students are eligible for final campus placements after completing the summer internship which happens after the 2nd semester.
