Remarks :
Good aspects I would say is that it is centrally located in the heart of Guwahati city i.e near Commerce, while other places offering these courses are in the outskirts like USTM or Royal Global Uni. The teachers are good and friendly. The courses are under Guwahati University so the pass certificate would be from a Govt University. In terms of bad, the buildings are small, with no campus and rigorous classes. The admission process is quite easy, you just have to visit the college office, submit required documents like mark sheets, ID proof etc. Dates vary, but at the same time as every college takes admission for the new year. The reason I preferred this college over others is because of the Microbiology/biotechnology course. These courses are available only in AIMT, USTM and Royal Global. USTM and Royal are too far away. Students of USTM are required to stay at college till 4, 5 pm every day which is a no-no for me. The fees were comparatively the same so I stuck to AIMT. I found AIMT through Google.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Microbiology/Biotechnology is an up and coming course, which I believe in the future will become a very important and needed subject. Students get the opportunity to become scientists in the relevant fields and perform PhD in top universities. These subjects are part of the top universities in India like JNU, BHU, TIFR etc. The total faculty is about 10 teachers with 1 lab teacher. Students per class about 30. Most teachers graduated from good universities and many have a PhD as well. Teaching methods were the basic ones + digital teaching via presentation with a projector. Exams were timed According to Guwahati University so they didn't have much control over that. They were fairly easy and out of 60, 18 was the passing mark. Average studying would be enough to pass. The overall basic understanding is important and the ability to write long answers in a short time.
Placement Experience :
5th semester, however, Microbiology students were not selected for placements and no companies came. In departments such as Mass Communication, Bachelor of Computer Applications, they were provided placements by some companies. The demand for these is more in small jobs and in the city. However, it is to be noted that no good jobs are available in Microbiology after BSc MSc is a must.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fees for the whole Microbiology course was almost 200000, including 5000 rupees for the Uniform and admission fees. I got no form of Financial assistance as I do not belong to SC/ST and my family is not very economically weak. The fees are quite high, but this is the average price for Private colleges. Scholarship opportunities are available for OBC, SC/ST students via the National Scholarship portal. Many received 25000+ in scholarships. As for Jobs, we didn't have any recruitment. They do have recruitments for other Departments sometimes. But It should be understood that just with BSc, you won't get a good job.
Campus Life :
The annual fest name is "SANSKRITI". These are conducted in the month of February or March. A large variety of books and journals available in the library. Amenities such as bathrooms, drinking water tap available near the classroom. Inside the classroom, we do have a whiteboard, projectors, adequate fans and good quality tables. In college weak, many sports events held such as Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Kabaddi etc as outdoor games. In indoor games, chess, carrom, Computer gaming competitions are held. Speakers from other colleges, universities are invited to give a presentation and other events. DY365, Deuboria Adda etc were also invited. Other fashion shows were also held. Debates, singing, dancing competitions are held. No such social groups that I know of.
