Remarks :
NIT Rourkela was the 2nd Best among the NITs during my admission. This College has a very beautiful campus and it is also located in my state. Apart from its high experimental facilities and equipments, this Institute provides ample opportunity for its students in extra-curricular activities. Nearly 60 clubs are registered under the Student Activity Centre of the college. And about 16 different sports are available for both men and women. The placements for Circuital branches is very nice. Other Branch placements are also good. But above all, if you study in this college, you will be nurture yourself in a culture that will define your personality in a much better way. You will get admission as per your rank in NTA JEE-Mains which is now held twice a year (January & April). The best score will be your rank. The branches are allocated as per rank. Seat reservation are there for Home-state, SC,ST,OBC,Girls Quota. I selected the branch Civil Engineering because I am greatly in interested in Mechanics and Construction. Also Civil Engineering vacancies in Govt. is a lot. I took help from collegepravesh.com for help relating to cutoff.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course because I am really interested in the mechanics and construction part. I find building structures very interesting. Faculties in my department are very helpful and student friendly. The course structure is vast but the faculties make us understand the concepts in a much better way. Approximately, faculty to student ratio is 1:19 We have two semesters each year. Autumn sem- July 21- Nov. 30 Spring sem- Jan. 1- April 30 In each sem, we have a Mid-semester (30marks, 2 hours) exam and a End-semester exam(50marks, 3hours). They are usually held in alternate months of the 4 months of each semester. Besides this, we have 20 marks as Teacher-assessment (TA) evaluated through performance in classes, attendance, and various class tests. The exam papers are a bit difficult. But this greatly varies as per teacher assigned.
Placement Experience :
7th semester onwards we can sit for placements. Being an Institute of Eminence, a large number of companies visit our college every year. On an average, 300-320 companies visit our college each year. The placements are very nice for Circuital branches. For other core brances, the placements are good. But students mostly prefer to go abroad for higher studies. check the website placements.nitrkl.ac.in
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The tution fee is determined by MHRD (now, Education Ministry). The hikes generally takes place in hostel fees or other amenities. There are a lot many scholarships and the Institute Academic Department will be notifying all the students beforehand every year. There is also fee waiver in tution fees for two groups:- 1. Family income below 5 lakh and above 1 lakh per annum- 2/3 of tution fees waived 2. Family income less than 1 lakh per annum or SC/ST Candidate- Tution fees= 0
Hostel Facilities :
Each student is provided with a bed, table, chair, lights and fans. The rooms are cleaned as many times as you request for. The mess is present in each hostel. Hostel is compulsory for every student. The fooding is cheap and included in the hostel fees. The quality of food is very good. The Mess secretary can change the menu as per request of students.
