Remarks :

College management is quite helpful and student friendly. One is never harassed by college management. All the Deans are very polite and ever ready to solve students problem. The only lacuna is that being a college of 60 years old, the infrastructure is not that huge that one expected it to be. At last, I won't say that it is the best college to study engineering, but will definitely say that its a good place to study and one won't regret it.

Entrance Preview :

I had given GATE and had scored 459. Could have got NIT, but would not have got a good branch. So I decided to chose VSSUT. It's a govt college and the oldest college of Orissa. It is now autonomous and in a league to become IIEST. The admission process was just like any other college. Shortlisted candidates were called for counselling and there they were to choose from the available specialisation. I had choosen HEAT POWER specialisation.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is well designed and the faculties are very well experienced and highly qualified. The teaching process is normal and easily one can catch the subject.

Internships Opportunities :

Since I am a M.tech student, I get stipend from AICTE of Rs8000 p.m. and it is going to revised to 12400 p.m. The revision has been approved and we are expecting to get it from December. But for B.tech, TVS motors and other companies do come with stipend of around 10-15k.

Placement Experience :

Since it is a govt college, placement is always nearly 100%. All eligible candidates get placed. The mass recruiters are INFOSYS, ACCENTURE, WIPRO and TECH MAHINDRA. Aerage package of these software companies is about 3.5 lpa. Apart from softwares, core companies like MARUTI SUZUKI, HYUNDAI MOTORS, L&T also come and each recruits 5-8 students with average package of 5 lpa.

College Events :

The college is famous for its functions. the technical fest is called SAMAVESH and cultural function is called VASSAUNT. The tech fests are very big and prize money to be won is huge too. In cultural fest renowned celebrities are invited to perform.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Since it is a govt college, the fees here is indeed affordable. It is 40000 per year. And the hostel fees is 24000 per year which is also reasonable.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Various govt scholarships are available for meritorious and deserving students. For SC/ST students there is scholarship named PRERNA which gives about 40000 per annum. Education loan is readily available and bank staffs are present on the day of admission itself for providing loans.

Campus Life :

Campus life is really awesome. In hostel we have a grand feast every month. There are various societies of students for extra curriculum activities like the ROBOTICS society and DRAMATIC society. There is no gender or caste or religion biasing out here. Several workshops are organised by students as well as by the college in regular intervals. However participation sometimes is chargeable .

Hostel Facilities :

The hostels are very old and not very well maintained but still in good condition. Rooms are shared by 4 students. New hostel is in construction phase and there is no room shortage as of now. The sanitation is clean. The mess food is very good and quite hygenic. The average rental for PG's is about 5-6k per month.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni network is very strong here. Different chapters in different parts of India as well as abroad are happening every year. The alumni network plays a vital role in placement and internship too.

Exam Structure :

The exams were normal. Not too hectic nor completely liberal. But fetching good marks is not that difficult here. Labs are regular and we have lab tests in intervals.

Placement Experience:

Placements in IIT Bhubaneswar are decent enough. In SMMME, companies like applied materials are frequent recruiters. Professors help to get placed in companies like tata steel and other such metallurgical companies through their excellent network and references.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course was easy for most of the cases or times, but felt some difficulties in some subjects like NANO, topics like surface plasmon resonance, etc. Timings are good and feasible, you'll get a lot of free time for whatever you want to do.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I believed there was a good future for the EE which inspired me to apply for this course. When Our faculty focuses on subject they would also teach us along with the real time benefits.Difficulty of the exam varies with corresponding subject and respective faculty with mid sem and end sem exams at 2months

Course Curriculum Overview:

I must say the curriculum is relevant to the course here for mtech cse. All the different subjects hold its own importance according to the course. But I didn't like the teaching methods of faculties here. Sometimes it feels like PPT presentation class. There are two exams in one semester. Mid Sem Exam and End Sem Exam and they both are pretty much normal not too difficult.
