Remarks :

The college management is helpful and will hear out all problems and try to iron out the issues faced by the students. But occasionally the management can take decision that don't go down well with students, such as issues related to parking, attire and discipline rules. Certain teachers tend to go overboard with discipline and tend to pull out students for the slightest of errors. But these matters are usually resolved early and do not hamper the course of learning or the college experience in any way.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum has been updated since the induction of the choice based credit system, and it holds more relevance in today's world as the students are made aware of the current marketing and trade practices being employed. The CBCS stustem system allows students to choose subjects they are most interested in, and this provides value based learning as well help a student get better grades, ultimately improving the overall GPA/Grade. St. Xavier's College is one of the few colleges that provides Strategic Management as a subject and this helps students who opt for it, understand the different strategies and techniques being employed in trade activities. The exam structure is fairly simple as well, with regular internal assessment carried out, equally distributed between a written paper and a project which helps students get into the real world and carried out research. Even final year students have to complete a 100 mark project, in groups, guided by a project guide, and this helps students get insights into an industry, as they are required to interview and survey customers, sellers, etc. Besides this, there are many inter stream competitions and activities that let students engage in healthy competition, while sharpening their skills. Add to this factory and industrial visits carried out in the form of study trips. All in all, the curriculum and the faculty ensure that the student recieved a good amount of theoretical and practical knowledge.

Placement Experience :

The college doesn't have great placements. A lot of students do not opt for placements. Reliance Jio and Vivo were some of the companies that came to the campus for placements. The profiles were mainly sales.

College Events :

The college is amongst the best in Goa in terms of events, participation and organisation. The college regularly organizes events like the commerce event Arena, the English Department event "Wordsup". Both these events are national level events. Other than this, all the departments such as Dept of Psychology, Dept of Mass Communication, Dept of Arts, Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, all organise their own inter collegiate events. In addition to this, xavier's usually takes part in the biggest college events in Goa, such as K-OSS, Tathasthu, Happenings, Pegasus, Phoenix, etc, often securing a winner or runners up spot. One of the highlights of St. Xavier's College is "Plus Points", a 3 day multi event extravaganza where the different departments of the college compete in cultural, sports, educational competition to emerge winners. This is usually a very hyped event that all students as well as faculty members look forward to.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The college is partially Government aided, hence the fees are generally low, except the private courses such as biotechnology, Mass communication, Journalism, etc. The Bachelor of Commerce course generally costs roughly 7, 000 - 10, 000 for an academic year. Hence, the 3 year course will roughly cost 30, 000. The college generally accepts NEFT/RTGS payments. There are examination fees and some other miscallenous costs that are communicated from time to time. The college maintains 100% transparency in fee breakdown.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college offers certain scholarships to meritorious students, based on their economic and financial conditions.

Campus Life :

St. Xavier's usually takes part in the biggest college events in Goa, such as K-OSS, Tathasthu, Happenings, Pegasus, Phoenix, etc, often securing a winner or runners up spot. One of the highlights of St. Xavier's College is "Plus Points", a 3 day multi event extravaganza where the different departments of the college compete in cultural, sports, educational competition to emerge winners. This is usually a very hyped event that all students as well as faculty members look forward to. St. Xavier's College is also very well known for its sports facilities. The college has received many accolades, one of the most prestigious ones being the Geno award for best sports college. St. Xavier's College is a regular winner in the Goa university organised Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Football, Athletics and Chess tournaments. Both boys and girls teams are known to perform at the highest level, and a lot of St. Xavier's College students also represent the State in various disciples. NSS and NCC activities are also carried out. In the past, Xavierites have also gone all the way to Delhi and represent the NSS marching parade for the republic day festivities. The college student council is also very approachable, and indirect elections are held. Each class has an elected Class Representative who come together to elect the General secretary, Joint secretary and the Cultural secretary. There is no form of differenciation, and students of different race and ethnicity coexist peacefully. In fact, the BBA Dept organises an ethnic day for the Afghani national students who are a part of the college as well.

Alumni/Alumna :

The seniors are very helpful and most look forward to interacting and working together with the freshers. Usually seniors and juniors work together for the various college departments, and these come together to engage in healthy competition during plus points or any other contest. The alumni also are accessible and more than willing to always be helping anyone and everyone who approaches them. Many alumnus are invited by the faculty to give guest lectures.

Admission :

St. Xavier's College is one of the premier colleges in Goa for commerce. It has constantly produced university toppers and the Bcom course is very reputed here due to the amazing and well informed faculty. The college also has a great mix of sports, NSS/NCC Activities, cultural activities etc that make it a great choice for any bachelor's programme. The admission process is fairly simple. You have to obtain a prospectus from the college office, and fill up the form online. After which a merit list will be issued and if you have qualified you will be given a date and time to approach the college with the required list of documents and the admission process will be completed then.

Faculty :

There are over 100 lecturers in the college, with each department having a good number of PhD qualified professors and assistant professors. The faculty is generally well natured and are often willing to go the extra mile for students. A lot of teachers provide extra help to the weaker students of the class, often repeating lessons in order to ensure 100% grasping. The college has a good mix of young as well as senior faculty members. The commerce Dept has a lovely mix of teachers, some who have Chartered Accountancy and Company secretary qualifications as well.

So far the course is good but it does get difficult if you don't study at least one hour a day , you have to study and make notes yourself so that you can be prepared and answer all the questions and help the other students who have doubts in whatever they want
