Student's Review On Jorhat Engineering College - [JEC], Jorhat

Remarks :

Through CEE we can get into the government technical institutes in Assam and depending on the rank we get into the institutes. So I got JEC with my rank which is the 2nd most sought after college for BE in Assam after AEC and it was not much of my choice as everything depends on the rank. But I am thoroughly satisfied and happy. As for my branch, I am pursuing Civil Engineering and that too depends on the rank but I got what I was looking for luckily.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Everything is just good. Even during the pandemic we are having full on online classes. Practical experiments and industrial exposure, we got everything. The college authority and especially our department is doing great.

Internships Opportunities :

I did internships but all of them were non paid internships. I worked as an intern for Public Health Engineering Department. The experience was refreshing with all the survey work and site visits. I also worked as an intern in Public Works Deaprtment buildings. Rest of the internships i did were online based.

Placement Experience :

companies like TCS, Camegemini, HUl, cognizant etc come for recruitment each year. psu's like OIl also conduct recruitment drives. The entrepreneurship Cell is quite active in our college. Recruitment is most common in CSE branch while for branches like Civil its a major drawback thay I believe should be taken into account.

College Events :

we have Technovus which is our technical fests and we also Phoenix which is our cultural fest. Students get immense opportunity to take part in the fields of their choice. Technovus is conducted for one whole day and night and Phoenix for 3 days and nights. Technovus also includes things like elocution competitions, robo war, night sky viewing among many oher things. Participants come from various places. Phoenix is a time we truely wait for. From dj nights to band performances we have it all. People come from across India to participate and view as well.

Campus Life :

Auditorium, library, labs, wi-fi everything is up to date. Students get the opportunity to sit and study in a very maintained environment inside the library. We can borrow books whenever we want. The wi-fi in the college is also great. The laboratories are well equipped.

Hostel Facilities :

yes I stayed in hostel and our hostel is quiet a well maintained and cleaned place. of course it wont be same as our homes. But it was way better than expected. With bathrooms clean around the clock, running water during most of the time and hygenic meals, everything is good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose philosophy as my major course as I want to learn about the things we experienced and the way they are the curriculum prepares me well enough to overcome in my day-to-day life I haven't faced any need for improvement in the teaching method. Exams were indeed a difficult task as a student, we hardly had a week to prepare ourselves for the examination.

Course Curriculum Overview:

history is interlinked with all subjects. It describes the social formation, decision and mistakes that shapes the world. it gives moral values and mistakes that shouldn't be carried out again. The subject is very interesting and should be considered once.

Course Curriculum Overview:

About the course curriculum, I still wonder why they have to put science subjects on the course curriculum of arts students. They would say it's a basic course but it is definitely not. Those arts students came there to learn their main subjects. I think it is unnecessary to put sc subjects there plus it is not basic. Otherwise the main subjects' curriculum is pretty well organised and planned.
