Student's Review On International Institute Of Information Technology - [IIIT], Bhubaneswar

Remarks :

Based on my merit in the JEE-Mains,i had quite a few options to choose from but I opted for this college as it is among the top notch colleges in the country with reasonably good placement opportunities. The college is located at a suitable distance from all the necessary services and is easily accessible. The region too has an ambient climate. Information Technology and Computer Science are the best courses to pursue here as the faculties are highly qualified. Hostel accommodation is pretty sorted out with a good mess. I was very keen on building a career in the technology field, and this was the perfect place to head start.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is quite sorted out, it provides students with a great opportunity to get industry ready. Faculties always encourage to take up projects and research work and are more than happy to mentor you. The revised syllabus is very much course specific and aims at honing the skills required for the industry while clearing the basics at the same time. There are boot-camps being organized all year round, the college is also open to any kind of technical help one can provide to improve the erp, security and other systems.

Internships Opportunities :

Last summer I had interned at CRIS,New Delhi as software developer. The process to get an internship was to mail the GM a cover letter and resume.

Placement Experience :

DELL, QUANTIPHI, Aptus Data Labs, Incture, Ernst & Young, Mckinsey are few of the many companies which have visited apart from the mass recruiters like Infosys and IBM. Systems Engineer, Data Analyst, Full-stack developer are few of the roles that are offered by these recruiters. Placement process is pretty smooth based on the merit and requirements by the recruiters and almost 85% students are placed though these campus drives. The placement department works rigorously to get as many companies as possible. There are companies like DELL,Aptus,Utopia which even provide internship opportunities to pre-final year students.

College Events :

Workshops, boot-camps and hackathons take place all year round increasing the exposure of the students. The student council organizes almost all the festive celebrations. The annual techno-cultural fest called 'Advaita' is one of the biggest fests in odisha. All the management behind organizing the various pro-nites,different cultural and technological events is done by students itself. there is a buzz around the whole college as almost everyone is involved in some way or the other.

Campus Life :

The tennis court is relatively well maintained, but there is only one common ground for cricket and football. Among other sports facilities are volleyball, cemented basketball and badminton courts, and table tennis along with a separate common room for boys and girls. The library has enough resources to help one smooth across the course while the online library just increases the range of access. Lab equipment are limited and at times have functional issues.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facility is available to all, it is very much organised in a way that each year students get a block each. Triple sharing is the basic option, double sharing and single rooms are available from the second year onwards on merit and lucky draw basis. The new hostel building has much cleaner washrooms as compared to the old hostel.

Placements in KIIT are great as they are able to invite almost all top companies across globe and also train the students in the formative year of their bachelor's degree. They also continously guide students about various placement rounds involved for different companies.

Placement Experience:

From the 7th semester students become eligible for campus placements where they have to show their skills to the interviews in order to get placement. The name of the companies visited are Infosys, Oracle, Dalmia, Tata. The average package the companies give is around 3 to 4 lacs. My plan after getting the degree is to already settle by getting a placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements! Once upon a time in year 2016-17 Amazon, Oracle etc used to come... Now all are just less paying startups who select for 3,4,4.5 lpa on average Yeah some get 9-10lpa if they are really good, opportunities are always there for good students, but not more than this... If you're dreaming a 13,15,20,50lpa package, don't wake up, it's not possible in real life here (atleast till now)

Remarks:

This college provides a good environment for professional study. I got alloted to the college through my entrance mark so i chose it. It was my dream to study Electrical engineering but i didn't got the branch in any other college and i got the department over here so i thought it would be better to study here

Placement Experience:

Various companies visit our campus for recruitment. Among those companies the name of some big companies are TATA, INFOSYS, ACCENTURE, JINDAL, LNT. For being able to sit in the interview for any campus a student must have scored a minimum of 7 cgpa and must have good communication skills. In my knowledge there is no big startup by our batch.
