Remarks :
The management is pretty strict. I'd say don't expect anything from them. It's about the friends and seniors that make me love the college the most.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum is pretty Innovative. Exam structure appears to be a bit outdated, but they put a lot of emphasis on conducting exams. 30 marks of midterm, 50 marks of finals, and the rest through teacher's assessment and online quizzes. There are a lot of labs and workshops here.
Placement Experience :
The placement scenario for technical branches is pretty good. The student network is pretty good in the College. Even though Google doesn't hire interns from our College, there are always some qualifiers for google summer of code from the college. Our college partners up with Internshala and dell to bring opportunities for good internships for students.
College Events :
Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, and various other cultural events. There are coding competitions happening every weekend organized by the student members of the tech club. Every college has a fest, and we have ours in the month of February. We generally have a concert by a famous singer. Sometimes red bull provides us with amazing artists during the fest
Fee Structure And Facilities :
If you only consider the fees, I'd say it's feasible. But if you think about how is the fee getting utilized, you wouldn't find anything good. It's a government Institute. Cheap in comparison to private institutes, but expensive in comparison to NITs. Fee breakdown is pretty transparent
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
For normal people, there are not a lot of scholarships or loans available. It's only for the economically backward, that they provide scholarships. They require a good GPA, around 8 to grant a scholarship. That scholarship only covered the tuition fees, which is still a good one considering everything else.
Campus Life :
The campus is kind of small. There are plenty of places to sit down and chat. Almost every place is well lit. So in case you want some shady areas to do anything shady, this ain't the place for ya xD. The wires are underground, so it's pretty safe. There are much more boys than girls. They have a football ground, a basketball court, a tennis court, and a good table tennis culture. Debates and quizzes are pretty rare though.
Hostel Facilities :
Yes. The rooms are pretty spacious. Maximum 3 people in a room. We get 3 windows and 3 fans, all separate. There are rooms with single occupancy as well. They charge about 20,000 for normal rooms. The single rooms are about 36,000.
Alumni/Alumna :
Seniors are really helpful. Some batches are amazing while some are dull. The clubs are generally monitored by senior students. They are really helpful while giving ideas for project submission. They help us discover the various subjects of interest.
Admission :
Close to home, in a good city, home state quota, these things made me choose this College. I got here through Jee Main. They have an on-spot interview after document verification. For your home state, you need to get your documents verified here. Then comes the hostel allotment.
Faculty :
The faculty would be rated as average. There are some exceptional faculties, that really make a subject interesting. There are also some, who don't care about the understanding of the students. There are generally 3 faculties per subject. There are more than 5 in certain important subjects. Most of them are IIT Kgp graduates, but that doesn't necessarily make them better.
