Antony's Review On Nehru College Of Engineering And Research Centre - [NCERC], Thrissur

Remarks :

It is a spacious college but has unaffordable fees, bad placements and less equipment maintainence

Course Curriculum Overview :

The learning system followed in this campus is outdated. The education system forgets to use technology to provide better education. No, the curriculum is not groomed to provide industry-specific knowledge to the students, that'd be helpful in securing on-campus placements. Yes, industrial visits were organised for students but it lacked the relevance for the course.

Placement Experience :

Some of the main companies that held campus placements are Byjus App and Amazon. The general steps involved an interview and/or a written exam. The percentage of students placed every year is about 30%. Yes, the institution took special steps to prepare the students for the placement season.

College Events :

The festivals held by the college each year are Bloom (Cultural event,2-3 days), Sports (2 days), Onam (cultural event, 1 day ), Tech fest (Technical event, 2days). Every student can participate in this events. The sports and Bloom events would randomly assign students with a team with each team having equal number of students and a total of four teams. Whereas the Onam events and Tech Fest events requires students to be grouped based on the department of the course they pursue.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

For merit students the tuition fees per year is 75000 rupees. There is also additional fees for placement training, exam fees, uniform, books and miscellaneous. The fees will be accepted by direct payment or through bank tranfer in the form of check, DD or Challan.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I had applied for a scholarship provided by the Kerala Government known as E-grant. There are a variety of scholarships provided for SC and OBC. Students can apply for scholarship for the scholarship portal of Kerala Government. The students are required to submit the necessary documents via online before the last date. For further information you can contact the college authorities for guidance.

Campus Life :

The Gender ratio mainly is inconsistent. The Student diversity and tolerance with regards to gender, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, politics and economic status is neutral. There are atleast 7 workshops held by the college students each year which can be attended by anyone.

Alumni/Alumna :

They have been helpful in providing placement opportunities to the college and have helped in sharing their experience. The have shown interest in showcasing their talents in technical and cultural events. They have been helpful in conducting workshops.

Admission :

I choose this course because I was told this was a different subject with knowledge both in mechanical and electronics. The reason for choosing this college was because there was less colleges offering this course at the time of my admission. To get admitted in this college I first wrote the Kerala state entrance exam (KEAM) and then had to apply for most preferred college and course after the results arrived. When I was taken into admission I contacted the college authorities and followed their instructions.

Faculty :

The number of faculty is 7. The average age is 25. The qualifications held by each faculty is B.Tech and previous work experience. I would personally rate them as average when providing clarity about the subject. Yes, the lecturers held relevant industry-experience and certification.

Students who have completed their sixth semester can start their placements. Infosys, Wipro,TCS, digitalcore, USTGlobal , Sutherland, Accenture etc had taken placements from last years. The average package starts from 120000 lpa and highest was 700000lpa. This year itself more than 800 students was placed in different companies.
