A brief review of University institute of information technology, HPU

Remarks :

Among the positive are low and affordable fees structure, ease of living, the chill environment and the overall atmosphere of the place. The location factor the it's present in Shimla plays an important role to. Among the negative are poor placement and internships. And the unjustified fees as compared to the resources. The negatives definitely have an edge over the positive here.

Course Curriculum Overview :

There are 2 branches cse and it. Exams are conducted 2 times per semester, namely sessional and finals. Practicals are conducted along with the written exams. Special emphasis is laid on practical exams and experienced faculty from institutes IIT and nit come to take our practical exams.

Placement Experience :

Placements are weak in our college and mostly students apply by their own for placement by opting for off campus placement. Internship scenario are even worst and the college takes absolutely zero efforts to provide students with internships. Overall the placement scenario is quite weak.

College Events :

An cultural fest is held annually in the month of October and it consists of an cultural fest along with 2 days seperately given for technical programs. In the month of April an sports fest is organised.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees structure is quite feasible and is reasonable as compared to other colleges. Yet given the facilities provided the fees that although is quite reasonable is not justified. The fees could have been even less as it's an government funded institute or the facilities provided should be increased.

Fees and Financial Aid :

Scholarship are provided for meritorious girl students and single girl child but none is available for the rest. Coming to loans there is aid provided by the college or any type. If necessary students have to look out for loans by themselves.

Campus Life :

College extracurricular activities are very limited. There are commities formed but the are usually inactive throughout the year. The only time the commities are active are during the fest. Only computer and electronics labs are present in the college and the core branches such as mechanical lack proper lab facilities.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel are not easily available and mostly students opt for pg which cost ?6000 per month in most of the area. It's best if a room is rented and the rest is taken care by one, as it becomes even more economical and quality of life can be maintained.

Alumni/Alumna :

The college alumni network as such is not officially present in the college. The alumni network is general is not very strong and is among the weak points of the college. Since the placement scenario are not very good, the alumni network grows very slowly and very weak.

Admission :

College conducts an entrance exam in the month of july and results are out by june. Admission is given on the basis of the marks scored in the entrance exam. In the entrance exams students with high marks get cse and it and them the seats of core branches are filled.

Faculty :

Teacher are highly qualified and expertise in their respective field and are a constant guide to the students. profeesors are generally PhD and some are engineering teaching technical subjects. Proper labs are available and high assistant is given to the students.

The campus placement of IIIT UNA is good. The highest package of 2023 in IIIT Una was 60 lpa(off campus) and 45 lpa (on campus) . The average pakage was 15 lpa , and around 90 % of the student got placed, during the placement drive. The average pakage of IT department was 16 lpa. A full semester is dedicated for internship and to earn work experience. Many companies like Google, Facebook, nvidia,Amazon etc appeared into placement drive.I am also targeting such FANG companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

### **Rating the Course Curriculum at HIET Shahpur** The course curriculum at **Himachal Institute of Engineering and Technology (HIET), Shahpur**, aligns with the guidelines set by **Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU)**. While it provides a solid foundation in engineering concepts, there are notable gaps in terms of modern relevance and industry readiness. --- ### **1. Relevance and Comprehensiveness** #### **Positives**: - **Foundational Knowledge**: The curriculum emphasizes core engineering principles and technical subjects. It provides a good theoretical grounding, particularly in traditional branches like Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering. - **Breadth of Topics**: Subjects like Mathematics, Physics, and core engineering courses ensure a strong base for students, making it suitable for those aiming to pursue higher studies or competitive exams. - **Structured Progression**: The curriculum follows a logical flow from basic concepts in the first year to specialized topics in later semesters, ensuring students grasp fundamental knowledge before diving into advanced topics. #### **Negatives**: - **Outdated Content**: The curriculum lacks integration of modern, high-demand fields like Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cloud Computing, and IoT, which are now essential in engineering education. - **Limited Practical Exposure**: While labs are part of the curriculum, the equipment is often outdated, and the focus is more on theory than hands-on learning or real-world problem-solving. - **Elective Choices**: The range of elective subjects is limited, which restricts students' ability to explore interdisciplinary interests or niche areas within their field. --- ### **2. Influence on Decision to Join the Course** The choice of this course is often influenced by: - **Affordability**: The fee structure is economical compared to private institutions in metropolitan areas. - **Core Engineering Focus**: Many students choose HIET Shahpur becau

Course Curriculum Overview:

I intersted in engineering field and wanted to be a reputed engineer especially in electrical field so I chossed electrical engineering. In the school time inhave gone through many electrical projects which also triggered my interest to peruse my future in this branch. The curriculum of my College work on practical knowledge. Often tests and training of the courses can improve the course curriculum. Our college curriculum contain necessary training periods for the specificed days according to their respective branches. Teachers can teach in better ways by giving practical knowledge. Showing daily life problems. The core subjects of the respective branches can be taught in a better way by showing their related example and taking students to the different visits like electrical students to power plants , civil student to constructional sites...
