Best Design School in India

Remarks :

Environment is very good and motivating for working. Good space for learning and to try out new things. Good facilities and environment makes it a good and enriching experience overall. The overall schedule is quite hectic.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course Structure is very good. There are no parallel subject that go through the whole semester but the semesters are broken down into weekly modules. Each module is started and completed and then you move forward to the next module. There are no exams, instead there is a continuous evaluation system. There are review sessions during the modules and you are evaluated on the basis of your work and profeesionalism. There is a jury presentation at the end of the semester where you present everything that you have done in the whole semester.

Placement Experience :

There is a Placement week every year and a lot companies come for hiring and and to provide internship opportunities. Companies like Hero, Bajaj, Suzuki etc came. Stipend is variable and depends on the company.

College Events :

There are many events. The biggest cultural fest that happens is called The Monson Fiesta and is only for NID students. Other events like Maker's Fest, celebration of regional festivals etc also happen.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fees is feasible from a design education point of view. Currently the fees is about Rs 2 lakhs per semester which includes tuition, hostel, food and other charges. Most of the other design colleges charge at least thrice the amount that NID charges.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Bank loans are available at lowest possible education loan interest rates. College also provides freeship to students who need help and come from a weak economic background. The freeship is awarded on the basis of the students' academic performance.

Campus Life :

There are good facilities provided in general. Labs are accessible even after the classes are over. Sports facilities like TT, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton are available. There are more male students in comparison to female students. The general tolerance level is high in regards to all the social and political issues and are discussed and solved in a proper manner if something arises.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel is good and in one room in three students and one fan and three ya four light. Jsksjdkd sisndudbdi sisjdbud didn't ffhfbf disbands sisndudbdi dShaken sisndudbdi d sisndbdud djdkdbhdid djdidbdidnd slabs djdkdbhdid did

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni network is very strong. Due to such a small strength almost everyone knows about each other. Many of the alumni are working in industry and you can easily contact them. They are of great help.

Admission :

I wanted to pursue Transportation Design since childhood. I also applied for Product design but ended up choosing Transportation because sketching cars was something that I have been doing since childhood. For the admission process you have to appear for an Aptitude Test and if you get shortlisted then you will be called for an interview and a discipline specific aptitude test. In the interview you have to show your portfolio. The interview may or may not be around the discipline that you select because they want to check your knowledge about the subject but also want to know about your thinking process.

Faculty :

The faculties change according the module that is being taught. Most of the faculties are visiting faculties from industry. They are present for the entire module and give continuous feedback. The faculties are more than qualified to teach the courses.

Students can get into visual design, brand management, graphic design, UI UX design, trend forecaster, etc. I plan on getting a job and working as a UI UX designer.

Entrance Preview:

NIFT take own entrance exam and enlist students for group discussion followed by interview. Then take admission on the basis of merit list. I don't remember the score but I was at 33 position.
