Review about my college

Remarks :

When I first joined this college, I had a lot of expectations and hopes. Over the course of three years, it’s all broken down and honestly I can’t wait for this torture to be over. It’s hectic. The working timings are pathetic. There’s literally no social life maintenance post this. Work life - personal life balance is really screwed up.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is quite bad. It is purely “ exam based “ while not “ learning based “. Students are taught how to pass exams ( which again they’re still failing to ) and not actually learn what’s engineering consists of.

Placement Experience :

Placement opportunities depends completely on your branch, and your luck. What we hear/see is there are a lot of companies for CS and IT departments. While again very less for other departments : Mech//Civil//ENTC.

College Events :

It’s said to have a huge number of events, being a symbiosis. But the management is quite bad. The college management is not really involved much. It’s just the students, even which are begging to their faculties for attendance.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

2.4 LPA which is to be paid in two instalments. Seems expensive for the kind of facilities that we’re getting. But of course again, there’s just the brand “ Symbiosis “. The reach of the college is really pathetic. It’s in the corner outside the city and it takes hrs during college time to reach there. Plus the timings are really bad. It functions from 9-5 which is peak office traffic so we’re stuck in it for hrs.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

None that I’m aware of. The topper of the batch gets free tuition fee. Except that, I don’t really think there are any scholarships programs. There are sure a lot of foreign students it being Symbiosis International University.

Campus Life :

There are various seminars and guest lectures hosted. The one’s that are good, take away our attendance at times. Not all faculties encourage missing their lectures for these seminars. So the students get stuck in the middle. There’s a strict no ragging policy. Sports is quite a vast experience in college, but is not really supported by our management. All they want is students studying 24/7.

Hostel Facilities :

localite. The college is purely hostel based. Major of the events//sports//any other activity can only be thoroughly enjoyed if one is staying in a hostel. It’s impossible to travel back and forth for local guys to college in the night.

Alumni/Alumna :

This won’t be a part of college really. Our seniors are definitely amazing, and an integral part of our college experience. Only we wish, our faculties were a bit more understanding. It’s impossible for a student to handle 9-5 + lab work + thesis and also have a sports and social life.

Admission :

Maharashtra state conducts Entrance exam for Engineering stream called as CET. Through that process admission is done. For computer student expected cutoff is 130. The placement is best for computer science student.

Faculty :

Faculty is average. A lot of them are well qualified. But again, in an exam based system, what’s the really point if students are still failing to secure even 40% of marks in an examination. A third year guy having 60 backlogs makes no sense.

From the third-year sixth semester our college taking campus placement or internship programs. In the past, our college has got an average of 4 LPA packages and the highest 12 or 14 LPA packages. There are so many companies like TCS, COGNIGENT, WIPRO, etc. Our College gives 95-98% placement in engineering. My plan is to do a job in a data scientist post in the company and give my best to that company that's all.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements in their last year. There are many good companies that come and take part in the placement drives. Companies like TCS, Wipro, Accenture, Capgemini etc. come here for placements. The highest package in my understanding was about 30 lakhs as studied and searched by me. Many students secure packages above 3.5 lakhs in our college. About 90% of students get placed through the drives. My plan is also to take a good job from placement and then do my masters.

Admission:

I got admission through CAP Round as directed by AICTE and DTE, the process is of 3 rounds until you choose a college and finalize it. Admission dates for FE students start from around May-June period as college opens at around 15 July approx. And Students need to bring all documents attested and submit the original 10th- 12th documents in the college and after completing the graduation. He/She can collect the originals from the college after collecting LC from the college.
