Course Curriculum Overview :
Assam Engineering college offers undergraduate and post graduate engineering degrees in disciplines such as Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Science and Instrumentation.It is a NAAC accredited institution.Each department has state of the art labs and experienced faculty.The undergraduate course is 4years and is divided into 8Semesters.Semester exams are held every 6 months.Gauhati university and ASTU conducts these examination.The course including examination and labs gives ample time to students and hence allows students to take up other co-curricular activities thus helps in their overall developments
Placement Experience :
The College has a Training and placement cell that exclusively looks into placements and trainings.The placement scenario in the institution in college is good with many companies (core, IT and others ) picking up students from different disciplines.On an average the packages offered to the students are 3-4lakhs CTC. Our college provides International internships in Europe and US apart from local internships.Stipend depends on the internship bagged by the student.The college provides every help and support to the students in placements and internship.Personally I begged an internship with a reknowned PSU because of my college Training and placement cell
Fee Structure And Facilities :
It is a state run college hence the fee structures is feasible.On an average student pays a 10k per year for addmission fees and examination fees together. Further scholarships are provided to students coming from financially backward condition
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Every year students having BPL certificates are being awarded ISHAN UDAY with this scholarship.Students are entitled to a stpend of 7500 rupees per month.Apart from Ishan uday we have MINORITY scholarships for the minority students.Overseas internship scholarships are also awarded to meritorius students
Campus Life :
The college alllows an overall development of the students with various activities, sports events, Workshops being held round the year.The annual festival Pyearokinesis celebrates talent and sees participation from one and all to showcase their talents.The college provides a safe environment for the girl students.Although the girl boy ratio is small in some departments, equal opportunities are given to both. The composition of Students is diverse with students from differnet communities studying here and living here in harmony
Alumni/Alumna :
The college has a strong alumni association.Many are working in high positions and across continents yet still holding onto the AECIAN tag with pride and helping their juniors wherever they can.There are regular meetups of alumni groups in the college.
Admission :
One needs to appear for the addmission test called "CEE".You need to have a good score as it is the most sought after state run college among the other engineering college in the region.The average cut off marks in order to get into the college is 140-150 for General category every year, while for SC it is 120 and 90 for ST categories.The CEE exam was earlier conducted by Dibrugarh University but now it is conducted by Assam Science and Technology University. The exam pattern too has been changed with 30 questions from each maths, chemistry and Physics.For every right answer, 4marks is awarded while 1 marks deducted for every wrong answer.The exam is held every year around May -June.Form fillup for the exam starts from the December last.The questions are similar to JEE mains.
Faculty :
The institution has experienced faculties. The student teacher ratio is proportionate. The faculty members can be approached easily and are very helpful and caring. The entire class in each department in a batch are divided into subgroups and a guide and a mentor is assigned to them.These allows interaction between teacher and student.Thus personal care and guidance by faculties to students is possible.Each subject is being taught by experienced faculty having specialisation in that subject.The faculties in AEC believes in method teaching and hence they are being able to deliver and impart a crystal clear concept to every students.
