Remarks
If you are looking to hone your expertise, then this is a good place. The patient flow is good so you get a lot of practice. From simple to the most complex cases you get to see all. The infrastructure is a little outdated.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is honestly outdated. Dentistry can be a 3.5 years course if tried. We are taught about medical subjects in detail which is honestly of no use. The DCI needs to revise what is important.
Placement Experience
Internship is compulsory as a party of licensing. The stipend is next to nothing. It's a one year internship. They cut the stipend if you miss and make you do extensions without payment. The overall work is good.
College Events
The interns are responsible for all the social, sports and cultural events. The college is not very friendly though. We have one sports event that has football, basketball, cricket and indoors games.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Depends, If you take the government seat or the private or the management seat. The government seat is obviously scarce with all the reservation. The private seat is affordable for a middle class family.
Fees and Financial Aid
I don't think there is any scholarship scheme offered by my college. People do take student loans for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Although there are scholarships offered by institutions like Tata.
Campus Life
The ECA is extremely limited. The college is emstydies oriented rather than overall education. Even for university events, it is extremely difficult to get permission. Dorm parties are impossible. Language is a big barrier.
Alumni/Alumna
They are extremely helpful. You tend to become friends with them over 5 years so they guide you once you graduate thourough their own experience. They also teach you during the pregnancy clinical work.
Admission
Wrote the COMEDK entrance exam. After the results, sat for counseling. At a rank of 5000 got SDMCDSH in the first round. Wanted a medical seat but couldn't get it. So that obviously left me with the option of dentistry.
Faculty
The older faculty is nice. The younger ones are just lazy. They leave it to you to read and learn. There are times when we struggle with patients and they don't bother coming and helping. Language barrier is another issue.
