Remarks :
My journey with the XISS was filled with many highs and lows. I did my PGDM in Human Resource Management from the college. It was fun 2 years, where we learned the practical implications and management of resource management and appropriately managing the manpower of an organization. We were constantly reminded that the in India is in need of resurrection and people like us are responsible for it.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Overall, the course was very informative and had a mixture of various practical sessions and theory sessions. Our curriculum spanned over 2 years and was divided into the trimester system with a total of six semesters. Over the course of these semesters, we studied managerial economics to labor law, Quality management to strategic management, etc. Exams would be held at the end of each semester.
Placement Experience :
A six months fieldwork training is compulsory for the final year students under the relevant Work Experience Programme. Students are constantly grilled to be capable of earning by themselves by programs like these. Some of the frequent recruiters from the college include JCB, JSLPS, BRPLS, etc. The lowest salary offered to the students of our batch was around 4 LPA.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
My PGDM course has drained all of my family's savings. I paid around 10 Lakhs over a period of 2 years. The college has a loan facility and scholarship options but still, this fee is quite a lot for a student from a middle-class family.
Campus Life :
Students are constantly encouraged to participate in NCC/NSS activities, debates, dramatics, games and cultural events. Educational field trips along with extracurricular activities are regularly held. OBSCURA which works towards the betterment of the college and providing a platform for networking.
Admission :
The admissions to the PGDM program are conducted by Xavier's group. I applied with my XAT exam scores. Shortlisted candidates are invited for the counseling round which includes Group Discussion and Personal Interview round. A merit list is prepared considering all these factors, out of which Interview round holds a weightage of 30% and an entrance exam holds a weightage of 40%.
Faculty :
The faculty members were very friendly and cooperative. We had a family-like relationship with them. The faculty members pushed us to be more creative and pushed us towards taking ownership. This boosted our confidence and made us responsible.
