Remarks :
The positive remark is that technically you get to learn a lot in the 4 years which is way more than any other college and the placements too are top-notch. A negative point is due to excessive focus on technical and academic aspects, extra curricular activities are pretty low in the campus.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is highly computer science oriented. High importance is given to computer science subjects unlike other colleges where science is taught in initial semesters. The course workload is comparatively more than other colleges, but that's how people learn the best. Due to course workload, the time for extra curricular activities is pretty less.
Placement Experience :
The placements in the college are one of the best in the country. All major IT companies visit the campus for placements as well as interns. I have personally worked as an intern in Samsung research, Bangalore and have an offer for intern next year in Goldman Sachs with 1 lac stipend per month.
College Events :
The major event is the college cultural fest, Felicity. This is the biggest event in the college where you have the best memories in college with performances by artists from the whole country. Another major event is the megathon organised by the ecell of the college and sponsored by many prominent IT companies and a lot of students from other colleges also take part in it.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fees is around 1.6 lac per semester which is a bit Higher compared to other government colleges like IIT. But compared to the private colleges around the fee is feasible. The college gets no funds from the government so the student fee is its sole source of income.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The college doesn't offer any scholarship of any kind to any student but allows loan facility. There's a branch of SBI in the campus itself where you can easily avail loan on the name of education loan for IIIT which is not tough as IIIT is a tier1 college in the country.
Campus Life :
The labs are pretty good. The technical support you require for lab sessions is completely provided. The sports facilities can't be said to be top level. The facilities have improved over years but still lags when compared to other colleges. College has most of the sports but the quality of services isn't too high. In general college has facilities for football, tennis, volley ball, badminton, cricket, table tennis, pool table, gym etc.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facilities are decent and compulsory in the college. It's a 2 sharing room for the first 3 years and single rooms thereafter. The hostels are pretty new and can be seen liveable atleast. Hostels have minor sports facilities as well.
Alumni/Alumna :
The alumni network is pretty good in IIIT Hyderabad. You can find alumni in almost all IT companies across the globe not just the country. They are performing pretty well there which prompts the companies to visit the campus for hiring more such students, which has been the reason many multinational companies have made IIIT there first college to visit in india like Apple, Facebook etc.
Admission :
Admission to IIIT Hyderabad is through JEE mains, the approximate cut-off for BTech in CSE is around AIR 1200 and mine was 750 so I got admitted here. The application process is completely online through IIIT Hyderabad website.
Faculty :
The faculty is knowledgeable and if shown interest and enthusiasm in their course that acts like a motivation to them and they themselves are keen to help. The research work of most of the faculty is top-notch and highly appreciated globally. All the faculty are PhD from great institutes across the globe in their respective fields.
