Remarks :
Tezpur College is UGC approved. I did my graduation from the College. The placement process and some of the faculty members can do better. Apart from that, the location and infrastructure is good, but that can’t cover for the teaching. Seniors were helpful.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum was sufficient enough. We never needed any additional study material apart from the class notes. English, MIL/Alternative English is compulsory for all students. Besides these the students shall choose any two (any one in case of Major Students) Elective Subjects. An internal assessment on practical courses is conducted at the end of session/semester.
Placement Experience :
Placement for our department is quite poor. Placement records aren’t good for other departments either. But some reputable companies do come for the engineering students.
College Events :
Apart from academics the students participate in NCC, NSS, Scout initiatives. We also celebrate the yoga day in our college.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The first year fee for a BA course is around Rs. 5k. Which is the base fee for providing amenities like ventilated classrooms, recreational areas, hostel facility for boys and girls, indoor and outdoor games, stocked library, seamless internet connectivity, medical facilities etc.
Campus Life :
Campus life depends upon your friend circle and the extracurricular activities you are involved in. The campus is ragging free. The infrastructure is good. The tall buildings surrounded by hills of Guwahati will steal your heart.
Hostel Facilities :
There are two hostels for girls and one for boys. Total intake is 60, which is purely merit based. Reservation of the hotel seats is done by the govt. Norms.
Admission :
Admission is merit based, i.e. on the basis of Class 12 marks. The waiting lists are quite long. On top of that the verification process almost takes an entire day.
Faculty :
Some faculty members are only interested in wrapping up the course. While others don’t even show up for the class. Some who are willing to teach can’t do enough on their own. The politics among the teachers is pretty bad.
