Should I do an online BSc data science and programming course from IIT Madras? Will I get placement after it?
My friend has enrolled himself for B.Sc. Data Science and Programming course from IIT M. He carefully accessed the course curriculum.
According to him, the course requires at least 4 to 6 hours of study each day.
One can not simply study it on the weekends and cope up. My friend has a tight working schedule, and therefore, he is considering leaving this course.
But if you can devote time for the course each day, then this course will definitely benefit you. The placement statistics are not very clear but the curriculum is rigorous and so you will learn new skills that will come handy during job search.

Since the course is relatively new and was started a few months back, the students who are currently enrolled in the batch have not even completed their course. So, it is difficult to say how the placements will be for this course.
Among all the IITs that exist, it was IIT Madras that took this opportunity to offer a course in data science which began 4-5 years back. The stats for the data science placement have been great and the students have earned bagged great packages.
The teachers associated with this course are exceptional as well. There is a certain professor who happens to be a respected teacher of CS at IIT Madras. And based on all the input so far, I would recommend you to go for this course.
You may not get a job by simply doing the course but the skills you learn will definitely help you get decent job opportunities.
