IIT Kanpur 1st year economics syllabus covers basic engineering with physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and engineering graphics along with a small portion of humanities subjects. In the 2nd year, you will be covering courses in economics like microeconomics and macroeconomics which offer you basic knowledge about economics helping you to answer the question on GDP, inflation, recession, etc.

Courses like mathematical economics and Probability and statistics offer you an understanding of the basic tools required to deal with economics from the technical and mathematical side. The 3rd year syllabus covers courses like development economics, microeconomics II, growth economics, behavioural economics, and environmental economics along with major courses on Econometrics.
