IIT Bhubaneswar has two hostels one for girls and one for boys. SHR (Subarnrekha Hall of Residence) is the girl’s hostel and MHR (Mahanadi Hall of Residence) is the boy’s hostel. Yes, IIT Bhubaneswar is worth it to pursue civil engineering. Although it is a new name among IITs, it’s doing quite well. According to NIRF Ranking 2019 IIT Bhubaneswar was ranked at 26 among the engineering colleges all over India. It’s a popular belief that there is not much placement opportunity available for civil engineering students in India. And most of the students from this starts to prepare for non-core placements from the very beginning of their courses. But this is not the case for IIT Bhubaneswar. Past placement records suggest that 70% of the civil engineering students got core placements. There has always been a stereotype that Mechanical Engineering is better suited for male than female students.
