IIT BHU Varanasi is unique in a way that it resides inside BHU and the campus is quite prodigious. The campus is an open campus which at first might seem odd since it contains a tourist destination, the New Vishwanath Temple of Lord Shiva, but soon you will fall in love with it.

You do not have to feel deserted at IIT BHU, since it has other institutions of various disciplines like IMS, Law, Commerce, Arts, Management, etc. Being a student of IIT BHU, you can also do a diploma course in the above-mentioned disciplines along with your BTech. It has a number of branches from conventional to non-conventional ones. Students can also meet lots of people from other disciplines during fests, events, etc.

Apart from the excellent placements and huge alumni networks, there are other factors like the mess food of IIT BHU is one of the best. One can also bring their own motorized vehicles.

Placements at IIT BHU have always remained excellent and at par with the old IITs. The institute also boasts of its huge alumni network has completed its 100 years in 2019. Although it doesn’t make its placement report public as it is done by most other IITs. Pre placements offer (PPO) offered to the students have scaled a record high this year, indicating a bumper recruitment season where leading employers hired through the tried and tested internship route.

The institute witnessed a jump in the number of PPOs to 116 from 108 in the last year. Several companies made early offers for the first time like Walmart, Bajaj, and OYO also offered PPOs.

Traditional giants like Goldman Sachs, Intel, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Citibank, Samsung, Bajaj, EXL, OYO, Vedanta, and General Electric will visit the IIT BHU campus for recruitment along with first-time companies like Apple, RB, and Sprinkler.

With over 45 company's coming on the first day, the number of offers made was 266, which is the highest number so far. The companies that visited the campus of IIT BHU on day 1 were Apple, Microsoft, Google, Uber, Goldman Sachs, Intel, etc.

During day 2 and day 3, close to 50 organizations conducted their hiring processes. Some of the notable companies which hire students include Flipkart, Oracle, Cipla, Deloitte, Reliance Jio, OYO, etc.

With a total of 1151 students registered for the on-campus selection, around three fourths (75%) have already been placed. Three international offers of Rs 1.51 crores have been presented by Microsoft international, accomplishing the highest bids of this placement season.

So, IIT BHU Varanasi is indeed an excellent institute than other IITs. The institute makes sure that the students of all the courses are given placements in top recruiting organizations. The training and placement cell at IIT BHU Varanasi not only has its unique way of training the students, but it also provides the infrastructural facilities for the students in order to conduct the group discussions, tests, and interviews.

Can you compare IIT (BHU) and BITS Pilani?

HS
Harry Sharma Posted On : August 13th, 2020
B.E. (Mechanical ) from Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani (2023)

Yes, you can compare the two colleges. IIT BHU and BITS Pilani are among the reputed engineering colleges in India. The two colleges can be compared based on various aspects. In the context of campus life, BHU has a slight advantage over BITS Pilani. There are a plethora of clubs in which you can participate actively. BHU is also located in the “city of temples” Varanasi and is thus well connected with city life. The only disadvantage is that IIT BHU shares the same campus with BHU which makes it crowded and raises safety issues as entry to the campus is not restricted. However, based on the placement package, BITS Pilani scores better than IIT BHU. BITS Pilani provides a better platform for jobs in reputed foreign companies. The hostel facilities and overall infrastructure of BITS Pilani are also superior to IIT BHU. Both colleges conduct several fests. While BITS Pilani conducts BOSM, OASIS, APOGEE, IIT BHU conducts SPARDHA, KASHI YATRA, and TECHNEX. It is imperative to note that Oasis is the second biggest fest across the country. But the major difference between the two colleges is the institute fee which is very high in BITS Pilani as it is a private college. So, if considering placements and institute facilities, BITS Pilani is better than IIT BHU. On the contrary, from the context of the annual fee clubbed with the “IIT” tag, IIT BHU is better. It is also important to note that the number of branches offered in IIT BHU is greater in number than the courses offered at BITS Pilani.

Which is better, an MBA at BHU or a PGDM at BIMTECH?

AM
Anindita Mukherjee Posted On : May 16th, 2023
PGDM Marketing, Birla Institute of Management Technology (2018)

The PGDM program at BIMTECH is a better option than the MBA program at BHU. Why is this:

All four of BIMTECH's PGDM programs have received AIU approval, making them all MBA-equivalent. In addition, it provides students with a completely residential campus with all the amenities, extensive industry exposure, illustrious instructors, and a strong track record of job placement.

For campus placements, BIMTECH welcomes a variety of prominent national and international businesses. Additionally, the packages are respectable; according to current placement statistics, the highest domestic package was 18 LPA and the highest international package was 23 LPA.

Through a variety of Clubs and Conduits, the institute also supports experiential learning and extracurricular pursuits. Additionally, students experience a wide range of cultures around the world. BIMTECH is a better choice for advancing your management education in light of these aspects. I wish you luck!

Why there is no DC++ in IIT BHU?

RG
Reena Gupta Posted On : August 13th, 2020
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi

Actually DC++ is present in IIT BHU for quite some time. Since torrent is blocked in IIT’s WIFI, students are heavily dependent on DC++ on most IITs. Older IITs have the fastest DC++ hubs like Kharagpur, Bombay, Roorkee. This is where they share movies, games, tutorials, software, and many more. You can visit the IIT BHU DC’s Facebook page and check out if there are still any working hubs. Their FB has more than a thousand followers and you will get all the information there like how to join, hub info, etc. You can also find a website on IIT BHU dc++. You can find the link on their Facebook page itself. Go there and join their group. Better ask any one of the followers of the group as they can give you the specific information.

Why don't consultancies recruit from IIT BHU?

AS
Ankita Sinha Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Studies at Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad (2022)

Consultancies do recruit from IIT (BHU). However, there are relatively fewer hires for these positions as compared to other sectors. Some of the famous consultancies that hire from this IIT are - Deloitte, McKinsey, B. EXL, ZS Associates, Capgemini. In 2020, only 21 students were recruited for consulting positions, as compared to about 800 recruits overall. The reason behind this is stated below:

  • As it is an Institute for technology, most students prefer going to more technical areas of work.

  • After graduating some students prefer to pursue an MBA after a couple of years of work in the field.

  • Students do not have courses in IIT which solely focussed on leadership skills and/ or business management. Also, there are no courses in economics and finance.

  • There are usually fewer job opportunities in consulting - even lesser for people coming from purely technical institutions.

  • Some people go into building start-ups rather than going into entry-level management/ consulting positions, especially since they can develop the technical skill-set in college itself.
