Dr.Bishnu Prasad Panda is the HOD of the Dept of Mechanical Engineering at CIPET, Jaipur, and he is handling the technical activities of the Testing Department. He possesses more than 14 years of experience in Teaching, Research, and Technical consultancy activities and has worked in the various capacities of Polymer Testing, Processing, Teaching, and Research activities. He has industrial expertise and has served MNCs such as M/s Dow Corning and Regent Plast Pvt. Ltd as a Lab and Production Engineer. He has guided more than 18 nos. of M-Tech students in Composites, Nanocomposites, Toughened Polymer blends, and Fracture analysis. He has published 35 technical research publications in various peer-reviewed international journals. He has been awarded 1st Prize in Technology Innovation in Polymer processing in the area “Development of Flat and curved bottom FRP liquid Helium Dewar for SQUID-based application” from the Ministry of Chemical & Fertilizers.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

Being in the field of professional education in CIPET, we emphasize “Continuous Learning and Providing industry-oriented skills to the students”. Continuous learning helps you to improve your way of living and vision, so you will get more experience each day. The important aspect of technical institutes is to provide practical-oriented training to the students in such an environment that they will be going to face in industries. Students must have practical aspects. The key factor in educational institute my vision is to build the career and future of young youth of our country without giving much emphasis to their previous performance, but grooming their capability.


Being the HOD of CIPET, Jaipur, what is your idea of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

Leadership is about getting individuals to believe in their abilities and make informed decisions. I believe in creating an environment where the confidence and skills of both students and staff can flourish. My open-door policy is a testament to my commitment to accessibility. I make myself available to students and staff all the time and make sure they feel comfortable contacting me with their concerns, ideas, or suggestions. As a manager, I am committed to enhancing the leadership potential of my team. When I encourage my team members to take on leadership roles and responsibilities, it not only fosters their growth but also strengthens the collective capacity of the institution.

What is the Future of the Petrochemical Sector in Education and Industry?

We recognize that the petrochemical industry plays a vital role in meeting many of our everyday needs, producing products that cover a wide range of applications including adhesives, agrochemicals, paints, cosmetics, plastic coatings, and more. How do you ensure that the CIPET Course curriculum is as per the industry requirement?

CIPET’s Degree and Diploma programs combine hands-on industry-oriented practical experience along with a theoretical part. Due to CIPET’s close industry collaborations, our students are exposed to all modern manufacturing, design, and testing technologies. The courses are designed to reflect the needs of industry and business and ensure our students acquire the skills and knowledge more significantly.


Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

In the present scenario, skill-based training is in high demand and very important. Nowadays, employers are looking for skilled people in one or more jobs. Hence, after completing education, you should look for the areas/ skills that you love to learn and can design your future in a better way.
