Dr. Arun Kumar Gupta is a Principal in the Chameli Devi Group of Institutions, Indore. He did B. Pharm. from College of Pharmacy, SGSITS Campus, Indore and M. Pharm in Medicinal & Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Shri G.S. Institute Technology & Science, Indore. Later, he completed Ph.D in Pharmacy from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, M.P. He has 22 years of experience throughout his career. His research areas are Computational Chemistry includes QSAR, VHTS, Docking, Homology Modeling of some Antidiabetics, Antimycobacterials and Cyclooxygenase Inhibitors. Dr. Arun Kumar is an expert Member in Drug Discovery Hackathon 2020, Life Member (MP/ MAN / LM /0003), and Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA). He received APP Young Achiever Award 2013, AstraZeneca recognition award 2008, IDMA Research Award 2003, SRF (CSIR) Award 2002 and more.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What keeps you connected with the Education Sector and how has your experience been so far with the institute?

“Delivering quality education and providing new opportunities for students keeps me connected with the education industry”

My experience with the education sector is great. I joined Astrazeneca as a research associate once I had completed my PhD. During this period, I have always been in contact with academics. I realized how to deliver quality education to students. That’s the reason why I joined the academics. In the education sector, we are in close contacts with the students. In each year, new students join with new energy. This also provides us with a new opportunity to train them to the best of our abilities and learn from them. 


Being the Principal of Chameli Devi Group of Institutions, Indore, what is your philosophy of leadership and describe your leadership style?

“Focus on provide best ways to reaching students potentials through my leadership styles”

My leadership style primarily focuses on creating and providing the conditions that help the students in reaching their potential. I tried to focus on giving students and teachers a sense of ownership for their learning or knowledge. This helps in cultivating a culture of trust on campus. Our fellow faculty members develop a curriculum which brings out the best of the students and institutes.


How does the curriculum of Chameli Devi Group of Institutions, Indore, ensure the best practice of industry?

“Workshops, video lectures, training and more for students on campus”

We follow the unified syllabus given by the Pharmacy Council of India. In addition, our institute provides workshops, hands-on training and video lectures for students future use. Our institute has a YouTube channel where our faculty members develop many theoretical and practical videos. We developed our own app on google play store for the students.


Any insights into how campus could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

“Provide scholarships, and other merit activities for economic background students”

Our management welcomes students from every corner of the society. We provide scholarships for students who are facing economic hardships. They get scholarships on various criteria like sports, merit etc.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University and students are? 

“Monitor performance, discipline and capabilities of students on campus”

I have a variety of roles and responsibilities on campus. Encouraging productive student engagement, managing faculties, reaching academic goals, and supporting the faculties in their academic life cycle are my major roles. I am also responsible for managing the institute as per the guidance given by the higher authority and regulatory bodies. I monitor the faculty works, students and develop an environment that enhances their wellbeing, performance, discipline or capabilities. 


What do you think is the top priority of the Chameli Devi Group of Institutions, Indore over the next 10 years?

“To provide training and a wide range of opportunities to students in upcoming years”

Our institute was established in 2018 and completed our 4 years. We are currently planning to add more programs on campus. The institute also signs various MOUs with multiple industries for training purposes and signs more MOUs with companies. All these provide a wide range of opportunities to students. 


What would you like people to know about your institute they may not know?

We are a very transparent institute. Every information a student requires is available on our website. Our institute is located in Umrikheda, Indore. We have well connected transport facilities. Apart from academics, for overall development of students we provide students opportunities to showcase their talents by various events. We have various clubs like Microsoft advantage campus club, sports, club, movie club, CTDC etc. we give awards to our students in performing greatly in extra curriculars activities, academic activities. We also published quarterly magazine: Samvaad and annual magazine: Spandan which showcase each and everything about what our institute faculties and students had done and achieved in various fields.


What do you see as the greatest strengths of Chameli Devi Group of Institutions, Indore?

“Qualified faculties, students and management are our greatest strengths”

One of the great strengths of institutions are students and faculties. We have highly qualified faculty members and PhD scholars. Our infrastructure is great and a well equipped lab is available for students. We have Wi-Fi campus, central libraries, smart classrooms that help in providing students a well-rounded environment for their academic growth.
