What keeps you connected with the education sector and how has your experience been so far with the institute?

The Prestige Institute of Engineering Management Research provides hands-on skill practices for students in automation and robotics engineering, which is one of the most distinct professional careers in India. Their events offer opportunities for manufacturing lines to experiment with robots for various industries, such as military, medical, and automotive. PIEMR has faculty members from IITs, NITs, and other renowned institutes. In the third year, our students can complete internships at MNCs or prestigious institutions like IITs and IIMs, which have excellent laboratories for hands-on practice and learning new software. PIEMR also has a dedicated placement cell. Many companies visit the campus for recruitment, and in the last year, almost 90% of mechanical engineering students were placed.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

Leadership, to me, means guiding others towards the new era. While engineering traditionally focuses on conventional processes, the world is rapidly shifting towards new technologies like artificial intelligence and electric vehicles. As leaders, it's crucial to embrace these upcoming and futuristic technologies. We must envision how to implement them effectively, shaping our educational vision accordingly. This approach not only facilitates better learning for students but also provides them with enhanced opportunities.

What are your roles and responsibilities in this institute?

Presently, I am the head of the department of Mechanical Engineering, and my role and responsibility are focused on ensuring the highest quality of academics. This involves implementing Bloom's taxonomy to facilitate effective learning for students. Merely delivering lectures isn't sufficient for comprehensive understanding. Hence, we utilise various levels of Bloom's taxonomy continuously to enhance the learning experience. Additionally, we offer virtual laboratories for students to access equipment that may not be available on campus. Furthermore, through industrial visits, we provide students with hands-on skills and practical experience.

How does the curriculum of your institute ensure best practices?

We are currently affiliated with RGPV Bhopal, and thus, we adhere to their curriculum. However, we go beyond the prescribed curriculum to provide outstanding education to our students. We aim to equip our students with the skills needed to excel in the competitive market post-graduation. To achieve this, we organise seminars and invite experts to deliver talks. Additionally, we strive to offer international platforms for our students to broaden their learning horizons. Students undertake both minor and major projects in a wide range of disciplines, including mechanical, automation, robotics, electronics, and electrical engineering. This approach allows students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world applications.

What do you think is the greatest strength of this institute?

The greatest strength of this institute lies in several aspects. Firstly, the faculty at PIEMR are highly qualified, holding credentials from esteemed institutions such as national reproduction institutes and central universities. Secondly, there is a strong culture of research within the institute where students can convert their projects into patents, instilling a sense of pride and accomplishment. Our faculty members are adept at utilising Bloom's Taxonomy to enhance teaching methodologies, incorporating tools such as smart boards and case studies. Additionally, the mentor-mentee connections fostered within the institute allow students to share their problems and seek guidance from faculty members.

Any suggestions you want to provide to the aspiring students and youth?

I urge all students to prioritise attending lectures and laboratories. Our faculty members possess extensive knowledge of equipment, facilities, and laboratories. They are well-equipped to groom students and educate them about upcoming technologies. Participation in laboratory sessions not only enhances theoretical understanding but also improves hands-on skills. Additionally, I encourage students to actively engage in consultancy projects. It's essential to remember that after graduation, students will enter the industry, and they must meet the demands of the industry. Students should also strive to be regular attendees in college to ensure they are well-prepared for their future endeavours.
