Dr. Satya Narayana Tirlangi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Head of the Department of Computer Science Engineering at the VIET College of Engineering. He has about 12 years of teaching experience and has received his B.Tech. degree in Mechanical Engineering from JNTUK and his M.E. degree in Machine Design with distinction. Moreover, he has a PhD in the area of Metal matrix composites from Andhra University, A.P. Dr. Tirlangi has published 15 research papers in refereed international journals and at various international conferences. Moreover, he has also published 3 Design granted patents, two books and one book chapter. He has received several best paper awards for his research papers at various international conferences. His areas of research include composite materials, welding, renewable energy sources and CFD. He is an active member of the IEEE and IEI.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

Many professionals in education are driven by a genuine passion for learning and the desire to foster that passion in others, which is the case for me. Continuous exposure to new ideas, research, and academic advancements can be intellectually stimulating. I get numerous opportunities for professional growth. Continuous learning, exposure to diverse perspectives, and the opportunity to take on new challenges can contribute to a fulfilling and dynamic career, which is what motivates me. The education sector is constantly evolving, requiring professionals to be adaptable and open to innovation. The opportunity to be part of changes and improvements in teaching methods, curriculum design, and educational technology is exciting and motivating to me.

Being the HOD of Visakha Institute of Engineering and Technology what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

Being the HOD of VIET, we value input from team members in the decision-making process and encourage a collaborative approach. The college focuses on inspiring and motivating the team members to achieve their full potential and exceed their expectations. We teach through active listening, empathy, and a commitment to supporting the growth and success of individuals within the organization. We adopt a top-down approach, where the leader makes decisions without significant input from the team.

It's essential for prospective international students to thoroughly research and understand the specific offerings of the institute they plan to attend.
