Being a Faculty of the Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

My basic roles and responsibilities are to take lectures on time and provide my best to the students. I am also responsible for conducting practical classes for the students. I do everything to help them gain confidence in their domains as well as to help them know more about their subjects in detail.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

I tend to establish healthy relationships by solving the personal and professional problems of the students and my faculty members. We also provide them with counselling when needed, which automatically creates a bond between the teacher and the students. With the faculty members, I tend to have a healthy relationship by helping them in their problem areas, looking after their personal life situations and giving them suggestions accordingly.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented?

I try to bring in a practical approach by relating the practicals to real-life situations. Taking the students on a visit to hospitals and villages helps them know about the patient’s problems and helps students know how to give them prescriptions accordingly. Physiology is a subject where the normal functioning of the living organism is explained to the students in the classroom but the majority of the subject is learned through practical sessions, which is what we aim for.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

I help my students cope with the competition by engaging them in practical sessions, regular class tests, assessments and projects. All of these enhance their knowledge in their domain as well as help them know about their subject in detail, helping them in their careers. We also engage them in creating models related to the organs of the human body, through which students get to know more about human bodies in detail.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges?

We provide various extracurricular activities through seminars and tutorials for the students. We do so to help the students gain the necessary knowledge and skills about their subjects. We also actively involve them in various sporting activities to gain confidence and relax outside of classes.

What are the challenges you are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

The biggest challenge we face is related to medical terminology. Our students struggle with terminologies during their first year at the institute. As they are dealing with a subject where terminologies must be learned on a regular basis, repetition and revision will only help them solve problems related to their field.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

I would advise students to be dedicated to their studies. Be consistent in your learning and do not give up on your dreams and goals when you encounter a roadblock. Finally, it is important to keep in mind that regular practice will help them stay on top of their studies and score well in examinations.
