Being a Faculty of the Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

Being an assistant professor, my first and foremost responsibility is to teach and guide the students in a very precise manner. Apart from this, I have to hold and manage proper examinations and conduct practicals to equip our students with practical knowledge. This will help them ace their career and make them better prepared for work-life challenges.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty? 

My relationship with my faculty, colleagues and students is very pure because there is so much positivity in me that attracts other positive people towards me. I have a good relationship with everyone but I prefer to be a little strict with my students, as it helps maintain a distance between them. As a tutor, I maintain the gap between seniors and juniors and students respect my opinion and yearn to learn from me.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented? 

The department provides all the activities related to their curriculum to the students, which helps them gain the necessary skills, the industry demands that they need to compete in the modern world. Apart from this, our college also sends them to other colleges and industries so that their skills can be developed by learning about the subjects that they have studied in the class and experiencing them in real-time.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

We have a strong curriculum and timetable to teach the students. We make sure that we ourselves get to understand the subjects before the students get to study them as well. We are always there to answer queries and doubts and ensure the topics are clear in their minds before proceeding to the next topic.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students? 

We make the curriculum in simple language, which helps the students to understand the syllabus without any difficulty. Through this, we can conduct the classes and provide them with the education they need. Our curriculum gets updated regularly as per industry standards. Additionally, we provide them with real-world knowledge to update them on recent trends and developments so that they can hit the ground running after graduation.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges? 

We organise a motivation program every week to equip the students with the skills they need to face challenges from the outside world. We also aim to educate the students about society in clear language. We explain everything to the students about how to live, how to face society and how to face the world.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

There are many challenges in higher education that we are all actively working towards eliminating. However, when we came to college, I was wondering how I would be able to take care of so many children. I was also worried about proper conduct at the workplace in particular with the management above me, while delivering all my duties.

When you came to the college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same? 

My vision when I joined college was to prepare and conduct the college curriculum properly. To make this a reality, I aim to make knowledge and curriculum easily available to the students so that more students get motivated to apply themselves to their studies. This will encourage them to keep learning and they will enrol themselves in higher education.

What do you see as your department’s biggest strength? 

The college’s biggest strength would be our students. This is because they are the ones who run the college, bringing laurels and recognition to our institute. If we give them a good education, then they will also take our department far ahead.

What valuable advice would you like to give to your students to have a prosperous career ahead?

The only advice I would like to give to the students to move ahead in the future is to work hard. Keep moving forward but never stop learning and upskilling yourself. Do not be afraid of hard work and work continuously while networking with the right people.
