Mr. Sanjeev P. Shrivastav is the Professor and Head of the Department of Agriculture at SRK University. At present, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Genetic Divergence, Variability, and Character Association among Seed Yield & Its Components in Chickpea Genotypes. from RNTU Bhopal. He has 30 years of experience in the related field.

Being a Faculty of the Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

My role and responsibilities are to look after the students' welfare by teaching, training, guiding, conducting examinations & nurturing them to get the maximum out of them. As they are our future we have to educate them in each area possible for them to have a successful career ahead.


How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty members of your institute?

Taking care of children by solving their problems whether it may be the problem related to their syllabus or their problem related to their personal life, I try to blend in each area possible to become a friend to them, talking about faculties & helping & support them in areas where they are facing difficulties by trying to solve the problem as per the requirements, additionally, I try to support them in their personal life as well.


How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented?

Training & educating them as per the requirements of the market, doing group discussions, industrial orientation on a scheduled basis to gain real-world knowledge, all things help the students know about the present scenario & they work on it accordingly to have a better career ahead.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

We conduct various extracurricular activities such as NCC, Sports, cultural activities, seminars & webinars to make the students versatile in each aspect so that it will be easy for them to solve various versatile challenges that they may face in the long run. All these activities also enhance the skills of the students which help them grow in their careers.


What are the best practices offered by the department to the students to cope with the competition being so high in the outside world?

We provide various practices to the students to get the maximum out of them such as providing them the field visits, doing projects such as mushroom cultivation & various other projects that enhance their practical knowledge in their field.


What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

My valuable advice to the student is to work honestly, and believe in hard work rather than following shortcuts, and without knowledge there is no growth.
