Dr. L. Karthikeyan has been working as the Director of Nehru College of Management, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He has done Graduation in Agriculture from Annamalai University, Post-Graduate Diploma in Bio-Fertilizers from Bharathidasan University, MBA from University of Madras and PhD in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from Bharathiar University and has also qualified SET. Apart from this, his research efforts are focused on identifying the difficulties in Supply Chain Operations specifically in Tamil Nadu. He has a total 26 years of work experience in the teaching and industrial sector.

Dr. L. Karthikeyan started his career as a Lecturer with Sobha School of Management of Bharathiar University and worked there for 7 years. After this, he did teaching jobs as a Part-Time Faculty and Consultant with multiple Universities across India followed by Teamone Technologies of Singapore, Radius Advertising of Sharjah, Manipal University of Dubai, New York University of Abu Dhabi, Madonna University of UK-Dubai campus) and as Professor and HOD in the Department of International Business at Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Sciences, Coimbatore.

He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Westford School of Management(UK-Dubai campus) and ShaheedZulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST, Pakistan-Dubai campus). His areas of specialization include Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Soft Skills, Human Resource Management, Information Technology, Global Logistics System Design, Inventory Planning, and Warehousing. So far he has conducted 58 workshops and 42 corporate training sessions. Last but not the least, he has published articles in 25 leading journals and authored 4 books besides participating in 8 International conferences and 3 national conferences.

How do you establish a healthy relationship and environment in your college?

For the purpose of maintaining a good environment in college, we have developed such a campus culture that emphasizes the cultivation of independent and creative thinking among students and also promotes knowledge sharing and collaboration. Apart from this, we motivate students to engage themselves in collective research work, case studies, course related activities and assignments so that they can learn the importance of teamwork. This approach also enables students to work together to develop solutions for real-world challenges. 

Because our main objective is to instill a culture where teamwork and engagement among all members including students and faculty form the cornerstone of the college environment, enhance overall learning experiences and prepare students for the uncertain and highly competitive future.

Being the Director of the Nehru College, what is your philosophy of leadership?

As a Director of the Nehru Institution, my leadership philosophy revolves around promoting an atmosphere that encourages and supports personal and professional growth of our ambitious students and highly experienced faculty. Also, I strongly believe that providing the right environment at the right time with changing times and technologies is pivotal for the betterment of the campus. Therefore I regularly seek guidance from experts of diverse fields to ensure the skills upgradation of our young minds and teachers as and when needed. Last but not the least, I emphasize the importance of effective leadership and believe that encouragement is key to fostering good performance across the campus.

How do you make the curriculum of Nehru College of Management industry-oriented?

In order to develop an industry-relevant curriculum for our college's courses, enhance employability skills and make them ready for the coming future, we regularly collaborate with leading corporate giants so that we can timely integrate their trends, technologies and developments in our programs as well as practices. Additionally, we assign projects to students at the end of semester, send them to amazing companies for summer internships and also organize industrial visits from time to time to bridge the gaps between theoretical learning and real-world application and equip students with much needed communication and management skills.

How does your college prepare students for placements?

With the aim to prepare students for placement, our institution follows a series of strategic steps. First and foremost, we organize mock interview sessions and expert talks in collaboration with professionals of various industries. In addition to this, we provide comprehensive training to them for the actual interview process, wherein we cover both soft skills and technical knowledge. Lastly, the Placement Cell of our college regularly holds career guidance classes, aiming to update students about current market trends and employment opportunities.

How does your college enhance the faculty skills and train them as per industry standards?

Although all our faculty members are highly educated and experienced in their respective domains, they also need to upgrade their skills in accordance with ever changing demands of the industries. Hence we maintain a system of constant monitoring, regular evaluations, and mid-semester assessments for our faculty. These measures serve as check-reboot mechanisms, enabling our instructors to stay updated with the ever-evolving educational and industry standards, help them improve their teaching methodologies and deliver best quality education to students.
