Mrs. Toral Ananadkumar is an Assistant Professor in the Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College [MSEC], Chennai. She completed a Diploma of mechanical engineering from L&T Institute Of Technology, Bachelor of Engineering from Parshvanath College of Engineering, Mumbai University and Master of Engineering from College of Guindy, Anna University. She is working as Assistant Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering, Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering, Chennai. She has more than 10 years of teaching and research experience. Her area of interest is mainly in CAD, Design, material science and Finite element analysis.

Being a Faculty of the campus, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the Students?

“Providing guidance and supervision to graduate students”

One of my responsibilities include teaching a required number of classes, and encouraging interactive classroom sessions. We provide guidance and supervision to graduate students. Additionally, faculties always mentoring the students

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty in Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College?

“Coordinate all activities and give academic support to students”

We coordinate with the professors to handle various departmental duties. Our campus provides academic support to Professors and other staff. It helps us to maintain healthy relations on campus. 

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

“Organize industrial visits, internships and training for students”

We arrange internships, industrial visits and training for pupils. Our campus organizes various guest lectures and technical seminars by industrial experts. Hence, we impart practical knowledge toward the subjects.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

“Conduct workshops and access to add-on courses are available to students”

Students get additional courses apart from studies on campus. They can conduct technical workshops and improve their skills. So, it is easy to gain practice within the campus itself. 

How do you strategize the curriculum and get updated to make it befitting for the students?

“Assign project topics and prepare lesson plans for pupils”

We prepare lesson plans and assign project topics to students. Our campus updates itself by attending faculty development programs and NPTEL courses. In this way, we strategize the curriculum for pupils.

What are your views upon the placements and higher education about the students from Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College?

Our campus conducts career guidance programs for pupils to attain necessary skills. We conduct special placement training for them. All these help pupils to get good jobs. 

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

“Arrange innovation programs and ecube activities for all”

Students must attend ecube and Social Beneficial innovation Program organized in the campus. They can also attend excellence programs to improve their knowledge. Pupils need to work on projects, workshops and assignments. 

Do you have any extracurricular activity to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

“Sports day , Cultural events and E cube program are provided to students”

Our campus conducts several programs for students. Some of these include Sports day and Cultural events. They can participate in the E cube program organized on campus. 

What are the challenges you faced to uplift the quality of education of your department?

“To organize research and contribute articles to journals”

Researching and contributing articles in academic journals is a primary challenge for us. We also face difficulty attending various educational conferences, seminars, and events. Our faculties and management try their best to overcome all challenges. 

When you came to Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College, what was your vision and how to achieve the same?

“To provide ethical values, research and quality education for students”

One of my visions is to develop creative mechanical engineers for society. We try our best to provide quality education, research and ethical values to pupils. 

How does the curriculum of college ensure the best practice of the industry?

“Conduct internship, industrial visit, guest lecture and technical seminar by industrial stalwart”

We collaborate with more than 100 companies MOU in various industries. Students get final year project based on industry relevant topics. We arrange internships, industrial visits and inplant training at various organizations for them. Organizing various guest lectures and technical seminars by industrial stalwarts on campus. 

How does the college enhance the skills of the faculty and prepares them according to the industry standards?

“Update FDPs and collaborate with industries to improve faculty knowledge”

We update ourselves by attending a Faculty development program conducted by industry. Our campus collaborates with industries to enhance faculty knowledge. It helps them to improve their skills as per latest technical trends.

What are the interventions and approaches you bring in apart from curriculum to train the students?

Hands-on training is given to the students. They get teaching beyond the curriculum from our campus. 

What do you see as the greatest strengths of Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College and how can it be enhanced?

“Dedicated faculties, supportive members and a good learning environment are our greatest strengths”

One of the greatest strengths is well trained, research oriented, experienced, dedicated and energetic teaching faculty. We contain a supportive non-teaching and laboratory staff. Our campus consists of excellent and well-maintained infrastructure. Good teaching/ learning environment, Smart Classrooms and well-equipped laboratories are provided to all. We received excellent results at University Examinations, extra-curricular activities, and sports culture. Student-Teacher relationship with prominence on mentoring and counseling is another strength of campus. Our college is situated at the center of the city and conducted with public transports.
