Mr. Shravan Kumar Are is currently working as the HOD CIVIL at Kommuri Pratap Reddy Institute of Technology, Hyderabad. Mr. Kumar is pursuing Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering and completed his M.Tech in Water & Environmental Technology from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.

He has published papers presentations and has participated in various International conference such as Emerging Trends in Civil Engineering held at VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology in the year of 2014.

A pleasant education experience

I have about 8 years of teaching experience and my interest research has actually pulled me into this education industry. Research gives knowledge to the students and it makes them solve problems, so this idea has given me to motivation to pursue this field.

Teamwork is a challenge

Most of the faculty, these days are fresh M.tech graduates, who don’t have prior experience, hence teamwork has become a big challenge.

Ensuring best practices of the industry with the help of experts

The technology in the field of civil is changing rapidly, so for students to be updated with the technology, we bring in industry experts to give exposure to the students with respect to recent technologies.

Goals for future

To conduct International conferences as well as the development of research and consultancy in the laboratories is my primary goal.

Our faculty ensure quality education

Our college has got well-experienced Ph.D. faculty with good exposure with regard to the industry as well as for researchers who help us in gauging the performance of students. Every semester we assess student’s internal marks as well as faculty’s feedback to review their performance & ensure quality.

Building a positive school culture with the help of motivational speakers

We bring in successful motivational speakers in order to give students the right inspiration. Every semester, we invite alumni students to share the experience that they have gained from the industry.

Establishing a healthy relationship among faculty and students

Every fifteen days once, faculty-student interaction sessions are conducted for assessing their attendance, project work, class work & we make students comfortable to discuss any of their problems.

Group projects help students for developing an interest in research

In the Department of Civil Engineering, we assign projects to a group of 4 students every semester & allocate different problems so that they can work on them and arrive at a solution. This will help them in developing an interest in research.

Inspired leadership

Nelson Mandela has believed that Education is a key to freedom & success of the nation. He has been my inspiration ever since & I would like to be able to show the right path to all the faculty & students of my department following his steps.

Suggestions for current youth and aspiring students

I advise students to work hard in order to taste success. Try to concentrate on how you are studying rather than what you are studying.
