Dr. S.P. Venu Madhava Rao is the Principal of Kommuri Pratap Reddy Institute of Technology. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. Dr. Rao’s research areas include Nano Electronics, Device Modeling, Analog Electronic Circuits Fault Diagnosis, etc.

Dr. Rao has rich experience in both Academics and Industry and this varied experience is of much use to the students and the institute’s growth. His areas of interest include effective implementation of Outcome-Based Education, implementation of Effective Teaching Methodologies, Training the Trainer, improving the Institute-Industry Interaction, practical orientation in teaching and importance to student-centric approach in all the policy decisions.

Dr. Madhava Rao’s experience in the education industry

I have been in the education industry for 20 years and the experience is challenging and the satisfaction that the students have benefitted by my teaching and have been successful in their chosen domain. The education industry is the best as it is probably the only industry where there is an opportunity to help in the overall growth of the society and providing well-trained man-power to the other industry.

Significant challenges faced by Dr. Rao as the Principal of Kommuri Pratap Reddy Institute of Technology

The post of Principal always comes with a of challenges and the endeavor has been student-centric. One of many challenges is to help those who come from the and non-English background. These students have huge potential and the real challenge here lies in channelizing this energy.

Curriculum of Kommuri Pratap Reddy Institute of Technology

The curriculum is revised almost every year by incorporating those latest technologies which the industry uses. Apart from these, we at KPRIT have special programs for students training them in latest technologies with lots of practical examples.

Dr. Madhava Rao on how he ensures the quality of education in your institution

Several measures are in place including an audit to ensure the delivery of quality education to students. The content delivery is interactive where the students are encouraged to ask queries and contribute to the content. Apart from the practice in this college, we impart them “Practical Applications in Theoretical Teaching” that basically includes applications. This puts the syllabus content in proper context and makes the students understand better the relevance of the topic. In laboratories, the students are given projects apart from the regular practical experiments as prescribed by the syllabus.

Dr. Rao on how to build a positive school culture or climate

The lush green campus with separate Hostel for Boys and Girls is the perfect place for the students to design their future.There is a perfect balance between the academic ambiances mixed with the various student-centered activities in KPRIT. The college boasts of very good facilities in sports like a cricket ground, badminton courts, courts, etc. The college has e-classrooms for perfect teaching, seminar halls, auditorium, and several student clubs for various curricular, extracurricular activities.

Dr. Rao on how he establishes a relation with the students

At Kommuri Pratap Reddy Institute of Technology, all efforts are made to ensure that there is a relationship with the students. The institute has a well-established proctorial system where students have a mentor to take care of their needs. Apart from this, class teachers ensure that no student is left unattended and regular meetings are conducted. The college conducts special classes for the students who need more attention.

Growth of students through placement opportunities available at Kommuri Pratap Reddy Institute of Technology

To further improve the placement opportunities and to make the student ready to face interviews successfully, a separate department called Training and Placement has been established headed by Director Placements. This department conducts several training programs in areas like soft skills, basic computer skills, advanced computer language skills, training core subjects, etc.

Dr. Rao’s philosophy of leadership

My philosophy of leadership is teamwork, integrity, delegation of work and clear focus on the goals. My leadership style is taking everybody with me for the overall growth of the college and includes compassion and consideration.

Suggestions to the current youth

The future of India is on the shoulders of our youth and as we all know that our country has the largest young population. So, your contribution must be such that we become the top country in the world in terms of growth in all fields with compassion and love to all our fellow human beings and with very high ethical values.
