What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt for?

Yeah, there are various factors to choose the program like B.Tech in Computer Science. Some of the top factors include logical thinking, learning ability, and mathematical knowledge. So, learning a lot means the student should know which concept is good, and which concept is not, no need to learn. So, that difference should be there and to know this, the student should have some patience. Next, anyway, hard work is the key to success. So, the student should do hard work and creative thinking. So, the main important point in Computer Science is the student should be able to think creatively and logically. The solution, what he or she has to give for a problem in the computing field, should be creative. With these factors, the student can excel in the Computer Science field.

What are the best practices in the program you are doing?

Coming to Computer Science, presently in our college, for Computer Science grant students, we are offering a program called OCTNET. This is a program where there will be eight verticals and every student has to choose one vertical. Minimum and maximum, that means any student should fall into some vertical. When the verticals fall into like, Machine Learning and deep Learning is one vertical, Cloud vertical, and Cyber Security is one vertical. For that, there are eight verticals, so the student should choose or opt for one vertical and work in that area. That means he or she should excel in that area. So that tomorrow when the student goes to industry, they can make a road map. For example, they choose Cyber Security vertical. So, the Cyber Security vertical is like, totally they can do courses, they can pursue some certificate programs. So, like that, they can have their plan of action and excel in that field.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

Yeah, all these eight verticals are designed keeping in mind the industry. For example, in industry Cyber Security is one major area where there is a lot of, there is tremendous growth. So, if the student chooses Cyber Security and excels in that, definitely he or she has a career in Cyber Security. Similarly, if the student chooses DevOps or Programming, definitely the student has a career in DevOps and all. App development, web development, etc. So, in that way, we can cope with the student's industry needs. Moreover, the syllabus also matches, which means the present R20 syllabus also has new courses that suit the industry. So, that also will help the student.

How do you tend to build an industry connection with the program?

We will conduct a one-week program, one-week session, and training programs. Last year we conducted a Java program for one week. So, people from NASSCOM came and trained the students. Similarly, we will arrange industry expert talks. In the same way, we will be conducting CRT programs, arithmetic reasoning, and all. So, in this way, definitely industry connections will always be there in the department.

What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program into your curriculum?

So, the most predominant thing, which means the most problematic thing we are facing is the communication skills of the student. And even though we are training, we are trying hard to make them learn the communication skills, and speak very well, still we are having that lacuna. In the coming days, we will be working hard on that, which that means for every batch we are training them. But yet we are unable to make the students 100%. So, we can go for a reasonably adequate percentage of students to learn communication skills. So, that is one important thing. Mathematical and creative thinking is one important thing in this program. So, there is a lag in that also, in that area.

What are the types of projects that students are working on in this program?

So, they are working on projects which are related to machine learning, deep learning, etc. Web development, app development, and security projects, security-related projects. And they are into DevOps projects. So, these are the various areas, they are front-end development, and back-end connectivity projects. So, these are all the areas, of cloud-based projects. So, these are all the various areas the students are working in. That means they are doing projects in those areas.

What are the benefits and career options at the course pursuing this course?

See, the world is full of opportunities. Any student with a program certificate and skill has a place in this world. That means the students must have skills. They should learn, they should learn, and keep on learning. At some point, they will have the opportunity. Opportunity knocks on the door. The student should be in. They should not wait till the opportunity comes. Before that, they should get prepared. They should be well prepared. So, that at some point in time, so, they will be, the opportunity will grab that student. Similarly, there is a tremendous scope for startups. Many people are there who can afford, who invest if the idea is good. First of all, our idea should be very, very precise, clear, and innovative. And it should help the public. That means it should help the public to solve the problems. If such ideas turn out into startups. Definitely students will get better opportunities and a bright career.
