The Technical Education Directorate (DTE) Goa is responsible for the release of GCET 2023 Exam Syllabus. Every candidate appearing for a GCET exam must know the pattern to prepare a strategy. The exam syllabus is a general guide as prescribed by the body conducting the exam. It is a framework set for candidates to study only the subjects listed in the syllabus. This eventually saves a lot of time while preparation which helps the candidate to use the saved time in having thorough preparation of their subject and increase their chances of cracking the exam. 

In GCET 2023 questions will be asked in the MCQ formats without any negative marking and candidates will gain 1 mark for each correct answer. The total marks allotted is 225 with 2 hours duration for each section. Questions asked in the engineering entrance of Goa CET is of higher secondary and secondary level.

General Exam Pattern

General Exam Pattern GCET 2023

  • GCET 2023 will be based on the syllabus of Class 12th of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. 
  • The exam encompassed questions from three subjects - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Each subject had 75 questions that need to be answered in two hours. 
  • For each correct answer, aspirants will be awarded one mark each. 
  • However, there is no negative marking for multiple or wrong answers.
  • The candidates will be required to mark their responses in Objective Response Sheets (ORS), which acts as an answer sheet.
  • It is also important to read the instructions printed on the OMR sheet carefully and get familiar with the pattern beforehand.

As mentioned earlier, GCET 2023 Exam Pattern is designed to test candidates’ ability to solve complex questions in the minimal time possible. DTE Goa believes in upholding candidates’ confidence and thus there is no negative marking in the exam. Each correct response adds 1 mark to your final score. Marking Scheme

Marking Scheme in GCET 2023

The Marking Scheme in any exam is set to decide marks allotted to each question. Marking Scheme in GCET exam followed +1 for every correct answer and no marks will be deducted for incorrect responses. Questions not attempted in GCET exam did not affect the total marks scored by candidates. Each question carried equal importance in the exam.

  • Correct Response: +1 marks
  • No Negative Marking

The marking scheme mentioned above is followed in each section. Candidates scoring highest according to the marking scheme will be deemed topper of the exam. All the qualified candidates will be sorted in a merit list based upon marks obtained in their GCET 2023 exam.


Syllabus 2023

GCET 2023 Syllabus

The syllabus of GCET exam varied from plus one level to plus two levels. The syllabus of Physics ranges from easy kinematic questions to complex and hard equations from Modern Physics. Chemistry Syllabus of GCET 2023 also ranges from Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. Mathematics Section of GCET is considered to be the most complex section of all. GCET section for Mathematics carries a maximum weightage of plus one syllabus as compared to plus two.

Instructions

Exam Day Instructions for GCET 2023

Candidates appearing for GCET 2023 are advised to follow the instructions mentioned below to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination. As mentioned earlier the exam will be conducted in offline mode for 6 hours:

  • Use a black ball pen while GCET 2023 OMR sheet
  • The candidate is not allowed to bring anything except GCET 2023 Admit Card and stationeries.
  • All the rough work in GCET 2023 is to be done in the space provided for it.
  • The time allotted for each section is two hours which is not to be extended in any situation.
  • The circle provided for each question in the OMR sheet is to be darkened properly and completely. Since the OMR sheets will be checked digitally, there could be a possibility of incomplete circles being left out.

Ques. Is there negative marking in GCET?

Ans. There is no provision of negative marking for wrong/ unattempted or multiple marked answers.

Ans. Yes, Exam Pattern of GCET is the same for all the courses offered that is Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology.

Ques. What is the total number of questions asked in GCET?

Ans. There will be 75 questions in each paper of GCET and 2 hours will be allowed to attempt each paper.

Ques: What will be the duration of the GCET exam?

Ans: GCET entrance exam will have three sections - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The candidate will get two hours each to solve the question paper of all three segments. Candidate can have a look at the previous year question papers of GCET exam to know more about the question pattern.

Ques: Is maths compulsory for GCET entrance exam?

Ans: All the candidates appearing for GCET 2023 must have passed the 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized board. The candidate should have Physics, Maths, and English as a mandatory subject. And as an additional subject, a candidate has to make a choice between Chemistry/ Biotechnology/Biology/ Computer Science.

Ques: What is GCET and what will be the eligibility criteria to appear for the entrance test?

Ans: GCET is also known as the Goa Common Entrance Test (Goa CET). GCET is a state-level entrance test. It is conducted by DTE Goa for admissions to professional degree courses in Engineering offered at various colleges in Goa. Candidates who have passed their 12th standard with at least 45% of marks from Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination can appear in the Goa CET 2023 offline entrance test. Through GCET entrance exam, a candidate will get admission to Goa engineering colleges.

Ques: Can I raise an objection against the GCET answer key?

Ans: No candidate will be able to raise an objection against the GCET answer key released by the exam authorities.

Ans. Go to GCET exam question paper and you can access the previous year question papers and the preparation guides for free.

Ques. Can other states candidates fill GCET application form?

Ans. Yes, other states candidates will be also eligible for GCET 2023 examination.

Ques. Is calculator allowed in online entrance exam?

Ans. No, candidates are not allowed to use calculators or any other electronic device during JEE Main 2023 entrance test.

Ques. Will there be seperate 120 minutes given for each exam? 

Ans. Yes, there will be a 120 minutes for each exam i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and Biology. Students will have to solve 75 questions for each subject and the time frame for which will be two hours. 

Ques. What type of tricks a candidate can follow to score good marks in the GCET entrance exam 2023?

Ans. Candidates must know the question pattern and syllabus to score good. The questions of GCET 2023 exam will be based on the class 12th syllabus as prescribed by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE).
