Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is governed by UGC, so it is well maintained as per the latest NEP. Faculties are very concerned, and also extremely strict, in order to train the students, they put necessary discipline rules. They give fewer marks, they deduct marks on attendance too. The Faculty Student Ratio is 15:1. All Faculties are PHD Scholars.

Campus Life:

The campus life is amazing, BIT Mesra has a beautiful Lush Green Campus, and the infrastructure is nostalgic. There is a beautiful Sports Complex, which has almost every sport including Badminton, cricket, Football, Hockey, etc, It also has a GYM. The classrooms are AC Centralised. There are a lot many Fests happening every quarter.

The annual cultural fest known as bitotsav is held in February and the annual tech fest Pantheon is held in October every year. These are celebrated on a very wide scale. Students from different campuses and celebrities also come in these fests making it more attractive and fun. Classrooms are provided with AC and smart projectors in order to make the concept and teaching easier. Sports are promoted to a very high extent in BIT Mesra. The college itself organises many sports competitions. We also have a 25-acre sports complex which contains a range of sports facilities for the students and faculty. Just like in every college the presence of clubs and societies is an integral part of the entire life here. There is a club for every hobby of yours, just name it and get that. Every club has its own website and student body.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course as I was interested in this course and the faculty here is also very knowledgeable and supportive in my branch. There are almost more than 20 professors and assistant professors in each branch making the ratio of student to faculty fairly nice. All the faculty here are highly qualified professionals in their subjects. There is basically one mid-semester exam and 2 quizzes ppus ome end semester examination along with an assignment in each subject in a semester. You need to study hard for exams else you would fail.

Here we have 3 annual fests bitotsav, pantheon, and one more. Here the library is very big and it contains books about all subjects. In the classroom, we have a table, chair, big green board, smart board, Ac, etc. Here we have 2-3 sports events and so many extracurricular activities but students don't have time for them. We have different clubs for music, dance, drama, and technology.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I didn't choose this course, I got this course based on my rank. If I talk about my branch the faculties are very good as well as very strict. The ratio in my branch is about 13:1. The teaching methods are the same as other colleges and the qualifications of faculty are mostly PhD. Here we have exams very frequently and marking is very tough.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose ECE over AIML as my father and family members have experience in this field and they told me to go with ECE as it will have an extra edge in the future. The faculty-student ratio is extremely good here as there are different teachers for different subjects in different branches and there's no same faculty teaching two branches. Maximum teachers here are Ph.D. from IITs and foreign universities, their teaching methods are modern too as they teach using ppts, etc. Exams are always timely here, however, syllabus completion is tough as we are in a short semester due to Covid, and also papers are not set easily, they are tough to pass. Everyone coming here must make his/her mind clear about studies because they will have to study very hard to get a good GPA.

Campus Life:

Campus life is peace. Weather and natural beauty are all pros here. Bitotsav is the Annual fest conducted in February every year at BIT Mesra. Tech Fest till now has not happened so I don't know about that. The library is very large and has all the books you would want to study so I can't say anything much about it. Sports and extracurricular activities are being promoted here as there are different clubs for all the extracurricular activities. I'm also a member of Dhwani - The music club at BIT Mesra. There are many clubs like I can say whatever be your interest, you will find its club here for sure. Location is what is the only one and biggest negative of this college. Ranchi is 13kms away from Mesra and Mesra is literally a village town.

Exams were conducted timely and the level of the exams was intermediate. We had 5 quizzes each of 10 marks per semester and an end semester exam of 50 marks, making the total 100. The quiz results were declared on the same day after the quizzes and we obtained the final results within 15-20 days after the endsems.

Internships Opportunities:

Since I am a 3rd semester student, I myself have not applied for the placements. But, there were many seniors who got the internship under top notch companies with an amazing stipend. For example, 35 to 40 students got an internship under Microsoft and have a high chance of being offered a PPO.

I chose this course because this was the only course I was getting within the rank I achieved in my JEE exam. Faculty: student ratio is very good as in my department it is 26:130, so yes I would say it's pretty good. Our HOD has teaching and research experience of more than 15 years. His research areas are Signal Processing, Audio Signal Processing, Instrumentation and Automation, Sensor and Actuator, Embedded System Design, and Mechatronics. He has industrial experience too. He has more than 15 publications. The term exams are held quarterly in a semester and if you have studied and paid attention in the class a little bit, you can easily score good marks.

The general college syllabus is not updated that much but it seems that from this year they are introducing few changes since the college has become autonomous. Industrial exposure here purely depends on the student's interest and approach. Also the faculties are really helpful. They emphasize too much to work hard. But if a student needs more exposure it is in his hands to approach staffs. Also they have to prove that they can manage both extra curriculum activities and studies only then will they be given more opportunities

Ques. How is the placement of ECE branch in BIT Mesra?

● Top Answer By Divyansh Singh on 01 Mar 24

Ans. You’ll receive ample placement opportunities at BIT Mesra, given that you understand electronics well. You may consider joining Robolution, which will give you an edge over the others. Qualcomm visits the ECE department with good offers. A few years back, it appointed 4-5 ECE students for a package of 15 LPA. If you are willing to put in the extra effort and learn coding, you may get into good IT companies. Some of them being- Microsoft, Amazon and IBM. Academically, the ECE department of BIT Mesra isn’t the most ideal choice. This is because the department faculty is strict, and the curriculum is tough. If you couldn’t get CSE at BIT Mesra, you can try for IT instead of ECE. The ECE branch requires a lot of effort and time, which can be overwhelming.Read more

Rather most students take Electrical because their JEE Rank did not allow them admission to any other branch. In fact, some even take Electrical Engineering and opt for minors that match with their areas of interest. When it comes to interdisciplinary subjects, IIT Bombay provides the perfect chance to do so. What usually happens is that students are unaware of their area of interest while choosing their branch during admission. As a result they end up taking disciplines that match their ranks rather than interests. However, if you are clear about your choice of branch, don’t hesitate and go for it without thinking much of your rank. Although difficult, you can always change your branch if you later regret choosing that specific branch. I always suggest aspirants only choose the branch on the basis of their preferences and not the placements. Even if you land a good job, you will never be satisfied if you are working in an area that does not intrigue or excite you.Read more

Ques. Which is better, EE at DTU or ICE at NSIT?

● Top Answer By Tithi Aggrawal on 04 Jul 23

Ans. There is no better branch between EE at DTU and ICE at NSIT. It's all about preferences and inclinations. To help you make an informed decision let's talk about both the branches individually EE at DTU EE at DTU is core electrical engineering wherein you are taught concepts related to power, grids, electrical machines, etc.  For placements, core companies like BHEL and companies in the energy field visit the campus.  ICE at NSIT This branch has Control Engineering concepts along with electrical, electronics, and computer engineering.ICE has very light coursework and it's easy to maintain a good CGPA.  You also get enough time for your passions and extracurriculars. IT giants like Facebook, Google, etc. Don't allow ICE students to sit for placements.  Core companies that recruit students of this branch include Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and others.  Non-tech companies like BCG, Bain, and JPMC allow all students to sit for placements. NSIT has a larger batch size and thus the competition here is less than DTU for placements but it still it cannot match the brand value of DTU. In all, both DTU and NSIT have similar opportunities and placements so with the right mindset you can do well at both colleges. Read more

Ques. Which is better: Engineering Physics at IIT Bombay or Electrical Engineering at IIT Roorkee?

● Top Answer By Sumit Bose on 18 Mar 23

Ans. It would be suggested to pursue Engineering Physics at IIT Bombay rather than Electrical Engineering at IIT Roorkee.  When it comes to studying physics at IITB, there are some key differences between JEE physics and college-level physics. Here are some important points to keep in mind: In JEE physics, you study formula derivations after brief explanations of concepts and practice a lot of problems in that topic. College-level physics courses are typically more rigorous in theoretical and mathematical content, and problems are solved to help you understand the concepts more deeply. While EE does not have any pure physics courses after the first year, it focuses on making you an electrical engineer. Core courses include analog and digital electronics, signals and systems, network theory, electronic devices, microprocessors, power electronics, and some relevant math courses. EP, on the other hand, has core courses like quantum mechanics, electrodynamics, statistics, relativity, classical mechanics, waves and optics, nuclear physics, etc. There are also important math courses up to your second year. EP trains you in core physics concepts and prepares you for experimental physics and electronics, giving you many options for your career path. You can work in theoretical or experimental physics, electronics, statistics and stochastics, CS-related research, or pursue higher studies in physics. When choosing between IITB and IIT Roorkee, consider factors like the quality of professors, campus culture, and location. IITB has excellent professors, a beautiful campus, and great cultural and sports scenes, and is close to TIFR, which provides opportunities for collaboration. When it comes to placements, most EP students go for higher studies because they are passionate about physics. For EE, core and non-core jobs are similar to those for other courses in terms of job security and salary packages. Finally, the "brand" of IITs, especially IIT Bombay, provides a sense of job security that can be reassuring for graduates.Read more

Ques. Which branch should I choose: B.Tech (Electrical Engineering) in IIT Roorkee or Dual Degree (Electrical Engineering) in IIT Kharaghpur?

● Top Answer By Shruti on 03 Jul 24

Ans. According to me, B.Tech (Electrical engineering) from IIT Roorkee is a better option due to the following reasons: B.Tech electrical engineering is a 4 year program while dual degree (electrical engineering) is a five year program. This means that choosing IIT Roorkee will help you enter the workforce earlier. The B.Tech curriculum focuses equally on theoretical and practical learning. This will prepare you for industry roles.  On the other hand, the dual degree curriculum gives more importance to research and specialisation in electrical engineering. Here are the 2023 placement figures for IIT Roorkee and IIT KGP: Parameters IIT KGP (Phase-I) IIT Roorkee Highest Package INR 2.6 CPA INR 1.3 CPA (Highest International- INR 1.06 CPA) Top Recruiters (2024) OLA, OneByZero, SecPod, SIRION LABS, TCS Research, and others. American Express, Barclays, Chegg Inc, Flipkart, Google, Microsoft, Myntra, and more. Unfortunately, the branch-wise placements are not available for either of these IITs.  I would recommend you choose B.Tech Electrical at IIT Roorkee over Dual Degree in Electrical at IIT KGP due to the above reasons. Read more

Ques. What should I take, electrical engineering at IIT Delhi or CSE at BITS Pilani?

● Top Answer By Parth on 09 Jul 24

Ans. IIT Delhi and BITS Pilani are two highly reputed institutions for engineering studies in India. I am a second year B.Tech Electrical student at IIT Delhi. During my time, I was faced with a similar dilemma. But I ended up choosing IIT Delhi over BITS Pilani for my studies. I would recommend you choose Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi over CSE at BITS Pilani because of these reasons: Brand Value: IIT Delhi carries the prestigious “IIT'' tag  which holds more brand value than the “BITS Pilani'' tag. This will become important to you when applying to foreign universities for your higher education.  Fees: As a government institution, the fees of IIT Delhi is much more affordable as compared to BITS Pilani. This in turn, gives IIT Delhi a higher position in ROI (Return on Investment) because it offers even better placements.  Here are the important comparisons between Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi and CSE at BITS Pilani: Parameters IIT Delhi Electrical BITS Pilani CSE Course Fee INR 99,650 (for sem-1)* INR 3.32 lakh (for sem-1) Highest Package (Overall for 2023) INR 2.5 CPA  INR 60. 75 LPA Average Package (Overall for 2023) INR 17.60 LPA INR 30.37 LPA CTC Range (for 2023) - (IT branches) INR 11 - 38 LPA Campus Recruiters Microsoft, CISCO, Accenture, Brain & company, Jaguar Land Rover India Limited EY, HSBC, KPMC, HCL, IBM, TCS *This is the fee-structure for General/OBC students with family income>5 LPA. Thus, I would suggest you choose Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi over CSE at BITS Pilani.Read more

Ques. How good is IIT Delhi Electrical Engineering (Power and Automation)?

● Top Answer By Dipti Sinha on 03 Apr 23

Ans. IIT Delhi’s Electrical Engineering department has a number of branches like Communication Engineering (Communications Group, Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi) Control and Automation (Control & Automation) Computer Technology (Computer Technology) Integrated Electronics Circuits (Integrated Electronics and Circuits) Power Electronics, Electrical Machines and Drives (Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, and Drives) Power Systems This allows Electrical Engineering students to choose from a wide range of topics and they don’t have to restrict their area of interest. However, to provide core electrical engineering education and research opportunities, there is a separate Electrical specialization in Power and Automation. Owing to the small batch size and top-notch lab facilities, IIT Delhi’s Electrical department is highly coveted and is funded by Industry donations and partnerships. The performance rate of the students of this department has been increasing over the past few years and these students continue to perform well in each batch.  However, it is important to note that academic rigor is high in this department and requires a high level of commitment. But your efforts don’t go wasted because of the excellent packages offered to the students of this branch. I have rated the program based on some aspects to give a better idea. Global recognition: Top 0.1% Scholastic Aptitude: Top 0.1% Work Ethics: Top 0.1% Placement assistance: Top 0.1% Program Support: Top notch  Infrastructure: Top notch  Faculty: Top 0.1% Research output: Not among the Top 50 global programs Do your part of the research and talk to people who have completed this program and then make the final decision.Read more

Ques. Which is a better option: IIT Bombay mechanical vs IIT Kanpur electrical vs IIT Roorkee CS?

● Top Answer By Vaibhav Bansal on 25 Jun 24

Ans. The general preference order is  College wise - IIT Bombay > IIT Kanpur > IIT Roorkee Branch wise - CS > Mechanical ~ Electrical. However, this is a popular trend, and you don't have to follow it. It is best to make a decision based on your individual preferences. Doing something that interests you is considerably superior in the long run to doing something you dislike solely for money since, after a few years, money no longer motivates you. Here are some information to make your decision easier:- The placement scenario for EE in IIT Kanpur is good and stands next to the CS department in the table. Though EE is the largest department when compared with others it still maintains its record well in placements. The NIRF Ranking of IIT Bombay is 3 , IIT Kanpur is 4 and IIT Roorkee is 5 . The Average placement at IIT Bombay Mechanical is 21.82 LPA with IIT Kanpur Electrical is 26.27 LPA and IIT Roorkee CSE is 22 LPA. More than 250 companies visited IIT Kanpur campus in 2023. EE offers specialisations like VLSI, SPCom, RF & Microwave, Power Engineering, Control & Automation . Placements for some of these specializations are  100 %, especially for VLSI, SPCom & RF. Keeping aside the public’s opinion, my preference order is  IIT Kanpur Electrical > IIT Roorkee CS > IIT Bombay Mechanical Read more

Ques. Which is better academically (preferably CSE and ECE branch), NIT Manipur. NIT Meghalaya, NIT Sikkim, NIT Nagaland or Tezpur University?

● Top Answer By Dona Ghosh, on 11 Nov 21

Ans. Before choosing an institute, think about what your requirements are. Here are some points that might help you make a decision. If your aim is a job in a corporate sector then the NITs will definitely be better options. Opt for either NIT Meghalaya or Nagaland.  Do not compare their placements with older NITs as it could prove disappointing. Tezpur University (TU) is also known to provide good placement opportunities but it is more concentrated to only the CSE department.  You may get placements from a few IT companies, but overall placements are concerned NITs are definitely better than TU. Students who are interested in learning and exploring research fields can opt for TU as well.  Tezpur University has very good faculty strength in ECE & CSE.  The two departments are much older too.  The CSE faculty and labs of TU are better than NIT Silchar.  TU has got a good research environment as there are multiple departments of Science and Engineering, which is not the case of the mentioned NITs. Therefore it is suggested that if you aim for an immediate job opportunity, go for NITs. For students who feel confident that they can get a job off campus or are more inclined towards academics and research can go for TU.Read more
