The faculties really depends on your course. But they are very approachable abnd you can really get meaningful insights from them. For master's tge exams are 1internal+1 external for each semester. Most of the students do have a good record of getting a good gpa because if you write well in your exam you will obviously get good marks.

Campus Life

BHU more or less organise something or the other everyday if you are academically more active you can have varieties of opportunities. If you are a sports person then there are so many playgrounds that are open to all. You can also go to open gym. If you are a culturally active person you do have many dedicated clubs to join.

There are 2 exams one is the mid semester of 20 marks and the other is the end sems whichbis of 80 marks.

Social Psychology is what is taught in Sociology and how society works and how to live in a particular society. For that it should start with home and our faculties have taught us that consider college as a home and start the practice here. So, practical learning is what our faculties promote and make sure we understand sociology well.

Tarang is the 4 day annual fest and it is a decorated fest of DU. Our campus has two lawns and two beautiful buildings. However, the campus is small but the walls are filled with memories as seniors have left messages and our Nescafe Coffee Bar has a selfie point. Apart from that, there is one more cafeteria inside the campus.

As a student at this college I have a mixed experience. On the positive side the faculty is knowledgeable. The notes provided are helpful. Regular attendance can make additional tution unnecessary. The faculty student relationship is generally positive. The CBCS system with six semesters can be challenging, and the average scoring in our college is not as high compared to other colleges under Calcutta University.

Campus Life

First thing there is no involvement of any political parties, thus no external influence. It is a plus point. Campus life at my college has been overall good, with the higligh being the wonderful frinedships i have formed. The college offers various clubs which caters to different interests, which is a great way to explore new passions and talents.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees of my college is Rs13500 excluding the examination fees of Rs 2000 which is collected from the students one month before the commencement of the exam. The students belonging to categories such as SC and ST are give leverage in their fee payments. The students have to fill in their categories they belong to in the cuet application form only and according to that they are given the due benefits. The students belonging to economically weaker section are also given scholarships from the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course that I'm pursuing is sociology. The subject is overally good but it doesn't have much scope for further economic gains. The exams are conducted every six months that is each semester. The difficulty levels of the exam varies from time to time.

Our annual cultural fest is called Rhapsody that is held between February-April. The range of books are good, but they are of old edition. Should be added new editions to the library, I would say.Facilities are very good. Each classroom has projectors and a project board that is needed for it. Also, we have e-library where there are good quality laptops and computers so that students can study. We have Apple PCs in our e-library.That are newly installed. Before that we had HP laptops that are of old edition. We still have that. A lot of opportunities. I see my classmates opting for sports societies, dance societies, music societies, and they are doing very good at their fields. They mostly are involved in society and do not really come to classes. It's just their own choice.I see a lot of their societies, like debating societies, dance societies, music societies, sports societies, traveling to different cities as well for their interstate tournaments. The Different Societies is what is run by students and are passed by, given permission by our college principals. Last year, I was in Students Union social media team. That gave me a lot of exposure and I learned a lot of social media marketing, how is social media handled for a page, I learned that. All of our fests are organised by students with support and approvak of college authority.

Course Curriculum Overview

The reason why I chose this course was because at orientation in my college, the professor of sociology explained it so well that I thought this is the most interesting field there is in arts. And for me, The curriculum for sociology is also very interesting. They sometimes take us to museum visits to understand the history better and also some short trips to local sightseeing and everything for fieldwork because sociology is mainly fieldwork and practical work. Every third year, there is a compulsory field trip that is a part of the course curriculum. The field trip is for one week. We go to a different city for a week, live there. A month ago, we did go to the field trip. The management was very good. We got the best hotel that was in that city. Exam is held every 6 months with ending of each semester of 1 year divided into 2 semesters. So every 6 months we have exam, The difficulty level is not very difficult. It's medium. If you are studying for it, even moderately, you will easily be able to crack it.Frequency is okay. As it happens in every college. Honestly there is no such area that i would like improvement in however the local trips that are held i would like them to happen often they get cancelled most of the times.

Course Curriculum Overview

I have chosen this course because I don't wanted to study science anymore. The curriculum is nice and interesting it gives us an understanding of the society but at the same time it is very much outdated, the knowledge which we are getting has a zero job value. The course curriculum should something that can atleast prepare students for outside job market.

Placement Experience

Generally students of 6th sem go for the placement, and companies like Vipro do visit the college. The average package is around 5.2 lakhs but our department students generally don't go for placement because sociology as a discipline is not in very much demand in the job market. I am thinking of doing LLB after completing my bachelor's degree.

My overall experience here is somewhat okay. One of the events I like would be Fete which is usually held in the month of November. Lots of books and journals are available at the library which will improve our knowledge and skills. As of now the projectors are welorkinh well and good and that is better than writing on the board. Sports week is a really good event for all the students as it gives them the chance to show their skills and abilities. For me, the Evangelical Union has positive impact on students life as it changes the way we think and do things in good ways. Also, I'd not say negative but the students union and their work and fundraiser and stuffs hinders our work and studies.

Faculty

Well...most of them are really good and friendly but the one I liked the most would be Ma'am Aosangla because she is very friendly! Yeah she is strict and scary sometimes but she understands the students well and tries to help them and that's what I like most about her. Most of the lecturers are approachable but few of them are not because of their aura???? As of now, i like all the facilities. About the exams, the major papers are kind of hard for me and the minor papers and other extra papers are easy. Well last year almost all my mates managed to clear the exams. The course curriculum is highly relevant and prepares the students effectively

One of the things i didn't really like was about some teachers regarding their way of teaching especially one specific staff whose way if teaching was more inclined towards delivering her own point of view regarding the topics.

There are so many teachers I like..but one of them is ma'am Aola she is really friendly and her explanation is understandable .. She makes class more interesting..and easy to learn.. But some of the teachers are quite rude and sometimes it's really irritating. They treat us like we don't deserve in this college.. There are 78 teachers something in the college.. In my batch 9 of them fail the exam ..

Course Curriculum Overview

It's so untiming the schedule it in wrong timming all the time.... I have choose sociology to become professor.. In my opinion the teachers should be more friendly to the students so that it'll be easier for the students to communicate with them.. There are many other idea why I choose but the main reason was to become a professor

Campus Life

After I joined the college,I had personally attended so many programs, honestly for the attendance sake. But also there were some fun and knowledgeable ones too for example,HIV prevention and such. Our friends group has actually a club known as Ecoist where we clean our college campus and other parts of cities.we do it voluntarily and it doesn't affect our studies.

Faculty

I think there are more students compared to the teaching facilities. Some Professors are very kind and funny and approachable while some are rude . My favourite would be Ma'am Aosangla. She got the fun personality to teach and also she's is easy to approach regarding any help or doubt. As for dislike.I don't have any particular teacher. But some are just rude.

Ques. How do I prepare for the BHU BA (Hons.) in social science entrance exam?

● Top Answer By Sayanti Shome, on 11 Nov 21

Ans. One of my friends studied at Banaras Hindu University (BHU). According to him, BA social science entrance exam demands you to be knowledgeable in the field of humanities.  All you have to do is cover the current affairs section very well and along with that keep an eye on the previous year's questions. Some questions include topics on psychology or philosophy. For this, you don't have to go through the topics elaborately. You can solve previous year's questions to get a general idea. These are a must to pass BHU BA Social Science entrance examination.  For current affairs, you can keep yourself updated by reading newspapers and magazines. This will improve your vocabulary and writing ability. Knowing history will also be helpful. So prepare accordingly.Read more

Ques. What is DUs syllabus for BA Humanities and Social Science Admission test?

● Top Answer By Sneha Paul Sam on 12 Oct 22

Ans. To begin, one must mentally prepare to continue reading newspapers every day and attempting to comprehend editorial opinions and social issues. It would be beneficial to read some philosophy books based on your own understanding, thereby increasing your ability to think about society in terms of how well-educated people perceive women, girls, and people's difficulties. A good understanding of General Studies and your 12th-class texts from the Arts field is required.  The entrance exam is not based on math, reasoning, or English; rather, it is based on your social background, as well as your opinion and mindset. This entrance has only 20 or 30 seats. So be cautious, and good planning will ensure your success.Read more
