V.M. Salgaocar College of Law which today features as a respectable and foremost name in the field of legal education in India was established in the year 1972. The institution is affiliated to Goa University.

The college also offers postgraduate course such as LLM in the field of Legal Studies under five different specializations. The duration period of the course is two years.
To be eligible for admission to the LL.M. Programme, a candidate shall be required to have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate at the 5 years or 3 years LL.B. Programme, recognized by the Bar Council of India.
Admission to the LL.M. Programme is based on merit. The Merit List shall be prepared, based on the highest score obtained by the candidate at the 5 years or 3 years LL.B. Programme.
Relaxation of 5% marks is given to SC/ST candidates

A candidate desirous of seeking registration for a Ph.D., Degree at this research centre he/she has to follow the rule and regulations mentioned under Ordinance OB-9A, of Goa University Ordinance governing Ph.D. degree.A candidate desirous of seeking registration for a Ph.D. degree shall have to qualify in the Entrance Test followed by Personal Interview.
Candidates who have qualified SET/NET/JRF or Industry Professionals from Research Organizations or M.Phil degree holders are exempted from appearing for the Entrance Test

To enter into the BA.LLB course a student needs to answer an entrance exam called GU-CLAT after their 12th standard. The major GU-CLAT portion/syllabus is basic mathematics, logical reasoning, english grammar and vocabulary and general knowledge.
The admissions are based on an entrance exam conducted by the University. The eligibility criteria for the same is as follows :-The candidate has to secure minimum 45% at the qualifying examination at the graduation degree.For SC/ST candidates minimum 40% at the qualifying examination at the graduation degree.The candidate is required to qualify the Entrance Exam conducted by the college.The aggregate of marks scored by the candidate at the Bachelor Degree Examination in all the subjects is converted into percentage. The percentage of marks so obtained is added to the total score at the Entrance Test. This total is divided by 2. By submitting the form from the Prospectus thereby answering the entrance tests & getting admitted based on the merit-list. There then is an interview conducted alongwith the faculty members/Principal of the college followed by which upon payment of the annual fees admission is granted
Firstly given the entrance exam then after the result filled the admission form once the admission form was accepted i was given the bank slip where all details were already filled and i have to just insert my name and should sign it and then i went to that bank and deposited the admission fees and the receipt were shown to the college and my admission was confirmed.
