Seth Anandram Jaipuria College is a liberal arts college Established in 1945 in Kolkata. Affiliated to the Calcutta University, the college offers courses in streams of Arts, Commerce and Science. The College runs in three shifts wherein the Day shift is for co-ed, morning Shift is exclusively meant for girls and the Evening Shift is for boys. The College has also introduced various new subjects including Electronics, Computer Science, Journalism and Mass Communication Food & Nutrition & Psychology etc. in the recent years.

The college offers various courses in Arts and Commerce streams including B.Com honours as well as Bachelor of Arts in Bengali, Hindi, English, History, Education, Philosophy, Political Science, Phycology and Food & Nutrition. B.A is a three years’ course wherein students can opt for any of the subjects in humanities and social science streams.

Students seeking admission to SAJ College can apply for the same by filling in the admission form. A recent photograph needs to be attached with the filled admission form along with the copies of HSC mark sheet for verification to the office staff. The College does not conduct any entrance examination and selection of the candidates is done only on merit basis.

The college considers marks obtained in top four subjects in the immediately preceding qualifying examination to determine the aggregate marks of a candidate passing the examination under grade system. For candidates passing the higher secondary (10+2) examination from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education under Old System, marks in top five subjects shall be considered to ascertain in their aggregate marks.

SAJ College offers reservation for S.C, S.T, OBC-A and OBC-B candidates in each subject as per university and government rules/regulations. 22% seats are reserved for SC candidates, ST candidates are given 6% seats, 3% of total seats are reserved for PC and OBC-A and OBC B have 10% and 7% seats reserved for them respectively. It should be noted that SC/ST candidates from states outside West Bengal are not entitled to any reservations, and the college treats them as candidates of general category.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria for application for S.C. and S.T: Eligibility Criteria for Honours Course: Aggregate 40% [best 4] or/and Subject 40% and for General course – Pass marks in the Previous Examination, i.e., at 10+2 level
Minimum Eligibility Criteria for application for OBC [A] and OBC [B] & PWD: Eligibility Criteria for Honours and General Courses is same as that decided by the college.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria for application for Sports Persons: Eligibility Criteria for Honours Course -Aggregate 50% [best 4] and 45% in Subject or allied subject and for General Course – 40% in aggregate [best 4]

Additionally, all candidates seeking admission in the SAJ college are required to score passing marks in English. Admission to Honours and General courses will be subject to Calcutta University regulations of Calcutta University. Students seeking admission in Chemistry (Hons.) have to score Pass marks in Physics as well.

Vocational Stream Students are allowed to apply for BA/B.Com General courses only. The college announces merit list for vocational stream separately for a few earmarked seats. Girls taking admission in Morning shift will be given B.A. General - Elective English as General Subject. In this case, they are required to have 50% in English at 10+2 level. The seniors are very helpful and understanding in the union group.
The seniors of the college do arrange the freshers party and very very good ones.

Dislikes

The campus is very small and is restricted.
The washroom of the college is almost times dirty. I never used them because of this reason only.

Admission:

I have to many colleges including The Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society, shikshayantan college and agrasain college and Thk jain also but the main thing was i wanted to take addmission in a government college with cheaper fees structure and jaipuria has less fees than other's.

The college has been recently renovated. The classrooms are huge. The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and they help the students always. In our English department specially, our professors have always helped us with everything.
The professor are very proficient. The library also has a large collection of books on all subjects. It has centralised AC.

Dislikes

The campus size is quite limited. There is no ground for sports.

Admission:

The cut off for English was quite high like almost 80%.When we took admission it was for the college to select according to the merit of the students. Now, there's a centralised selection process. The university now selects the students according to merit and then from the eligible colleges, the students can select.

For this course u have to be passed with commerce or science stream in 10+2 board exam with 50% marks... there no application fees for applying this collage ...But of course there is st ,sc and obc reservation is noticed...

After opening of admission portal we have to apply and the cutoff is nearly 80% and which goes high for hons candidates. After we got selected for admission we have to go to college for documents verification and admission will be done

some students don't know Bengali and the some 0f teacher speak in bengali so its hard to understand 9f
The common room uses some cleaning its smell bad to me

The eligibility criteria is more than 70% ,the application form or fees are done online.the application dates are 15 days The exam starts after starting a new sem is mostly 5 months .the college give us time to prepare for exams so its not a problem

The office staffs are very helpful for every shift. This means whenever we face problems they help us immediately and understand our request.
The teachers are very helpful and the understand us very well. They help in every aspect of life

Dislikes

The canteen can be a bit more clean as it is a place where we take breaks and have our food.

Admission:

The eligibility of the course is 65% and more in boards. The application form is found on Calcutta University website and also on the college website. The timing of exams are semester vise which is after Every 6 months with in between internal exams.

There are certain rooms which are very large which sometimes create problem for students to listen carefully
Teachers arrives after 20 mins from the start of the class

Admission:

The applicant can apply for registration through the website of the college. The minimum criteria for admission in nearly 66+ percentage. You have to be very patient if your percentage is nearly 70. College hours start at 5 at end at 9. Sometimes till 8 also in the evening. 1 class consists of 1 hour.
